Any Doctors or Surgeons about? I've fallen on my arm and I'm not sure what injury I have.

As the title says really, I tripped over the hose up our drive, landed on my right arm and now I have limited movement, it hurts obviously but the range (or lack of) is concerning me, I can do circular movements no problem, (think DJ spinning records in a circular fashion) but i can barely do forward movements if that makes sense? Imagine putting eye make up on but your arm can't get anywhere near my eye because I'm in agony, it just won't go! I don't think it's broken but I've done something, I can move fingers no problem, thank you in advance!

Good luck OP. Let us know how you get on.

DrMadelineMaxwell · 15/03/2023 21:53

Sounds like it could be a rotator cuff injury.

Briallen · 15/03/2023 21:56

Hope you get seen soon op

Polkapjs · 15/03/2023 22:14

Hope you're ok and o know why you posted. Sometimes just need a nudge to do what you kind of know you should do already

It’s not bad advice, I told her to phone 111, they wouldn’t give a gp appointment if it needs x raying obviously. But she was hoping to avoid a&e at the time and 111 > mumsnet for medical advice.

And actually 111 can in some places give you an appointment for an urgent x-ray at a and a to avoid having to sit there for twelve hours. So a perfectly sensible suggestion.

Tilinghelp · 15/03/2023 22:22

Hope it's not too long a wait

Bensteeth · 15/03/2023 22:57

I think my GP has referred me to an X-ray clinic before now so GP isn’t necessarily bad advice if you can get an appointment tomorrow. It means you save the assessment wait at A&E. I don’t necessarily know whether that’s the best option or is the case in all areas so perhaps 111 is the best option though

justasking111 · 15/03/2023 23:02

Hopefully it's not too serious @WisteriaLodge good luck

familyissues12345 · 16/03/2023 08:32

Hope you're not still waiting @WisteriaLodge !

Ladybug14 · 17/03/2023 06:16

How did it go?

olympicsrock · 17/03/2023 06:30

I think you may have a rotator cuff tear. But you need to see a doctor and have X-rays…

WisteriaLodge · 17/03/2023 07:42

Thanks everyone, after a 8 hour wait and one xray later I have a Radial head fracture, thanks for the advice from the kind posters and the ones asking after me.

Crikey, that sounds horrid. Do you have to have a cast or is it just R&R while it mends?

WisteriaLodge · 17/03/2023 08:41

Thanks Augend23 I've got to wait for a call from the fracture clinic at the hospital and they'll say what they intend to do, if anything.

PenanceAdair · 17/03/2023 09:30

You can call NHS111 (or use the online service) but you'll likely be told to go to A&E to get it checked out. You may need an xray.

PenanceAdair · 17/03/2023 09:31

So sorry, serves me right for not rtft and thinking this was recent.

Hope you feel better

WisteriaLodge · 17/03/2023 09:35

Ouch. Look after yourself OP and I can't recommend the LIMBO waterproof arm sleeve enough (amazon)!

imnotsickbutimnotwell · 17/03/2023 09:56

I broke my radial head years ago they just gave me a sling to wear and it took about 2 months to heal and for me to get full movement back.

WisteriaLodge · 17/03/2023 11:27

Thanks for advice everyone
