Gallstones. Feeling sorry for myself

Just looking for sympathy really as there's nothing anyone can do. Having a gallstone flare up and it's like a band of pain around my ribs and back. I've had to take my bra off I feel so tender. Just lying here in an oodie feeling nauseous and sore. I'm on the list for gallbladder removal but who knows when that will be. The nausea, bloating and feeling full and like my stomach is stretched are worse than the pain!

It's agony, I ended up collapsing in agony being and taken to hospital, put on morphine and then op shortly after. Prior to that I was taking codeine but that just didn't cut it anymore. I was living on plain jacket potatoes and zero fat. The pain is akin to childbirth when it gets really severe. Please do go to A&E.

Have you had your apple cider vinegar today OP? Every day for a month will do it x

Aphrathestorm · 16/03/2023 10:54

Try a hot water bottle.

Also an inverted yoga pose if you're up for it. Sometimes that can dislodge a stuck stone.

I haven't but I have spent most of the morning on the loo having a good clear out which has helped (sorry Blush)

In the same sort of thinking I found that making myself sick relieved the pain. Could’ve been a coincidence. Just remember to do it before taking pain relief as I made that mistake.

Digestive Enzymes (Holland & Barrett sell them) helped me. I took one with each meal unless I was utterly sure there was nothing fatty in it. Hope you can get it removed soon.

Urgh you have my sympathy!

I had my gallbladder out 3 weeks ago, never had pain like the attacks I was having. Honestly would rather give birth again.

Only thing that ever took a bit of the pain away for me was heat - so a hot bath, or hot water bottle. It was pretty minimal though, but worth the effort.

Diet made no difference to me, biggest flares were triggered by healthy meals, take aways and junk food never bothered me. Made it so difficult to know what to do!

I was diagnosed in 2020 and second the apple cider vinegar (make sure it's the one with "the mother" ) and buscopan as and when.
Peppermint tea also helps, as do peppermint oil capsules. I also take digestive enzymes (Solgar) before every meal. Pineapple, apples, beetroot all good for gall bladders.
I've gone from 3-4 bad attacks a year to about 1 and can eat almost anything in moderation.

How are you doing OP? I want to nag you (and everyone else either with gallstones or those who don’t ever want them) to drink apple juice or cider vinegar every day

after 30 days or so the stones will be squidgy and pass through your pipes without the worst pain you’ve ever had

and it’s just a glass of apple juice! Cheap
or fancy doesn’t matter. It works

I WILL NAG AGAIN

Dizzywizz · 27/03/2023 21:10

I will try that @IAmcuriousyellow , thanks (I’ve got gallstones pain too)
