Bleeding after BM - I can’t ignore this right?

Objectively I know the answer but I also need some other people to tell me too. Over the last few weeks I’ve had almost daily occurrences of fresh blood showing when wiping after a bm. I’ve also had a change of bowel habits - going from 1 x per day to 3+ per day and the need to go has been more intense.
I’m pretty rubbish about going to the GP - have had several experiences where I’ve felt fobbed off for one thing or another. But I need an appt for this right. I’m under the standard home testing age (44). Am trying very hard not to worry about this but the amount of blood today was more like a gush than a smear.

Yes, you need to tell your GP.

Chances are it's internal piles, a fissure - something benign. But get it checked.

Yep. You need to get this checked and you know exactly why already which is why it’s scary.
There are also plenty of less scary reasons why this can happen - like a fissure or burst haemarroid for example. But you really must get tested to rule out bowel cancer.

Thank you, I needed that from others. Will try and do battle with the appointment system this morning.

Yep time to see gp. Fresh red blood very likely means hemmoroids. Dark brown old blood is likely something more sinister but both need to be checked out

That's a popped internal haemorrhoid, don't be too worried even though it can look alarming! Old blood is more concerning, or if it happens repeatedly. However like other posters said, you should tell your GP.

Managed to get a docs appt this morning (wonders will never cease). No obvious pile and she’s concerned re the symptoms. Have poop and blood test to be done asap and she said to push for a referral for a colonoscopy even if the bloods are fine. Now trying very hard not to spiral but wanted to come back and update and also thanks for the push to go.

Sounds like the symptoms my family member with Ulcerative Colitis / Crohns has.
