Vitamin injections and weight loss/energy levels

Just wondering if anyone has had any of the shots you can get from Botox/filler practitioners and if so, what do they actually do?

I've seen vitamin c ones, and vitamin d, and B12, but do they actually do anything? Do you actually feel any different? Lose any weight? Suddenly energised?

Any adverse effects?

Why are you asking? What are you hoping to achieve if you got any of those?

TwinsAndTiramisu · 10/03/2023 21:03

Because they all seem to offer the same thing. Weight loss. More energy.

But I'm sceptical because why so many different ones all claiming to be identical, are they all a con?

What's wrong with dealing with your diet, instead? I'm sorry, but there's really no quick fix for weight loss

TwinsAndTiramisu · 10/03/2023 21:11

With respect, I didn't ask for your interrogation or judgement, my OP is quite clear in what I'm looking to learn from others experience, so I'll pass on further engagement with you. Thank you.

I’ve had vitamin b12. I did feel more energetic - but it’s not immediate. And to be expected if Levels are low. My Levels were low anyway so it was necessary. Didn’t lose any weight.

BIWI · 10/03/2023 21:15

Well asking you a couple of questions is hardly an interrogation! And I'm sorry if you feel judged. I was aiming to help you. But if you don't want to hear that, totally up to you.

Good luck.

You are only really going to feel benefit it you were deficient in those vitamins anyway. Your body tends to expel and not use anything it does not need.

TwinsAndTiramisu · 10/03/2023 21:25

I'm really sluggish. DTwins are draining.

Always been very slim, but due to constant lack of energy, starting to gain weight for the first time in my life.

Would I need a medical to identify deficiency? I saw these shots as like almost a facial, as in, you don't expect miracles, but it's a little nudge in the right direction.

I get bimonthly B12 injections due to an autoimmune disease. I never noticed anything; no energy boost, no difference with weight loss...nothing.

But I don't suffer from fatigue so don't need a "boost". I wouldn't expect anything noticeable and wouldn't bother unless you have low B12.

TwinsAndTiramisu · 10/03/2023 22:02

I thought they were almost like cosmetic "treats" as opposed to real medical treatments, as they aren't done by doctors but predominantly beauty aestheticians.

I'd get some basic bloods done first. No point trying to fix something by random shit.

Focus on the basics, balanced diet, hydration, sleep, multivitamins and make an appointment with your doctor.

XenoBitch · 10/03/2023 22:10

Nah, the only treat here is your shot of money into someone else's bank account.
If you think you might benefit from such shots, see if you are deficient first. Ask your GP for a blood test, but then they might be loath to do one unless you had symptoms of some sort.

GrannyAchingsShepherdsHut · 10/03/2023 22:10

I've had b12 injections because I needed them, from the GP, I am prone to pernicious anaemia as I don't absorb it through my food like most people do. Normal deficiency is treated with tablets. B12 makes your brain work, if you're very deficient in it it's dangerous - it's very definitely a medical treatment.

However, if you're not deficient in it, it does absolutely nothing at all. Your body needs a certain amount, anything over that it just gets rid of. So if you're not low in it it's just a complete waste of money.

GulfCoastBeachGirl · 10/03/2023 23:59

Forgot to mention that too much B12 can cause acne/breakouts as well!

So if you're not actually deficient, don't waste your money. You're not likely to notice any appreciable benefit and might even wind up with some annoying spots.
