Tingling and numbness in both legs

Hi,

Wondering if anyone has any experience of this really. A few months ago I started getting an aching/pressure type feeling in my left calf, in the evening. I initially thought I had pulled a muscle or something. After about a week the pain started to travel up my leg until it was both my calf muscle and my thigh muscle. Along with this I also had a tingling/light pins and needles sensation in my left foot.

This has now developed further and is affecting both legs and both feet have tingling to the extent that the tips of my toes are numb.

This has developed slowing over the last few months and there are days when I am fine with no issues but then there are days like today when I feel pain all up and down both legs and tingling in my feet. The "norm" I guess is mild pain/discomfort throughout the day but some days are fine and some days are worse. It is affecting my sleep as I am finding it difficult to get to sleep due to the sensations in my legs.

I wondering if this is some sort of vitamin deficiency? I don't take any multivits or supplements so have ordered some magenesium glycinate, b12, calcium and zinc - based really on info I have found on the internet, I don't have much knowledge of supplements really.

Just wondering if anyone has any idea what this could be?

thanks x

Also should probably mention I have just turned 40, size 14-16 and work at an office job so fairly sedentary during the day.

Morning, strop, I had this last year. Sometimes really painful. After a few weeks, rang surgery (could actually do it then!!) I thought it was diabetic neuropathy. (My friends laughing, was nursing most of my adult life) blood tests came back normal range. Saw a podiatrist, she said it was impingement, but she couldn't say where
Gave me stretching excercises to do. Then I went to the osteopath I've used for well over 30 had a massage and manipulation, only needed the one. I did have a friend with vit B12, deficiency as did her daughter who lived on crap as a teenager. Let me know how it goes

birdshavingabath · 12/03/2023 10:29

sometimes stress and anxiety can cause numbness and tingling

Nannyfannybanny · 12/03/2023 10:29

Strop, osteopath said it was muscle impingement.

I had this, I was terrified it was the start of MS. But it turned out to be a vitamin B12 deficiency, which is treated with injections. I’m fine now!

poetryandwine · 12/03/2023 14:27

It could be a range of things. As it has continued over a period of months you really need advice from your GP.

jamsandwich1 · 12/03/2023 14:28

Could be a number of things, just go and see your GP.

Nannyfannybanny · 13/03/2023 08:09

I haven't managed to get an appointment with GP for almost a year. If you're lucky,it's a phone appointment with a nurse,5 weeks down the line. Of course,it would be ideal, for poster to be seen. I did get the blood tests, which were NAD. . then I thought, well,leg/feet problems, let's see some one who specialises in that area.

HoofWankingSpangleCunt · 13/03/2023 08:18

See your GP but if you get the tingling and numbness round your arse (if you were sitting on a saddle of a horse for example) then phone 111. Very Rare condition called cauda equina. Or equina cauda .im menopausal .

I don’t now am bout your pain or what type but if it’s sciatic pain ,can be caused by lots of things so it’s important to get a gp referral. Your area will affect on where that is, some trusts refer to muscular skeletal first, others orthopaedic. But don’t wait till it gets worse. I did and I’m looking at a ten month wait from first going to gp with symptoms to my first scan/X-ray. I’ve got form for spinal compression from ankylosing spondylitis too but that makes no difference to the waiting times.

Definitely go to your GP, I had this and not to worry you I had transverse myelitis.

Please please get checked out

TheHouseNextDoor · 13/03/2023 08:26

It could be anything from a vitamin deficiency to MS or a similar neurology problem.

Go see your GP.

Spokentruth · 14/03/2023 20:32

I had this for a few months a year or so ago. It started in my toes after I got chilblains (for no apparent reason but I had recently had Covid). It then started travelling to my feet and lower legs and my fingers and arms. Often I'd wake up with pins and needles and numbness which was quite scary.

I too thought it might be diabetes but blood tests have ruled it out. I don't really know what it was and nor did the GP but I haven't had it since.

MarshaMelrose · 14/03/2023 20:35

A relative of mine had this. She had private health insurance so she had every test under the sun. Turns out it was anxiety. Apparently it's not an uncommon symptom.

Oliviabaku · 03/11/2023 20:56

Hi, did you ever find out what it was?

NewMeNewUs · 03/11/2023 21:22
