they did mine through keyhole (my knee has two "eyes" ) and I think i was back in action without crutches after about two weeks. After this I did plenty of hydrotherapy & swimming, then cycling to get back in action again. should explain that i am a PE / dance teacher... when I had the surgery I was at uni doing PE & education, so had half a term off the high-impact and running stuff. Don't know what "normal" people should expect, but apart from it being a b&gger to get dressed with one leg straight it wasn't painful as such post-op. likely to be causing you worse pain now if you have damaged it!

DH has had cartilage removed from both of his knees through keyhole surgery.
They were done in 2 different hospitals. The first time he had a bandage that went from mid-thigh to mid-calf and was really thick. The second time he had 2 gauze pads over the incisions!
He was told to take 2 weeks off work and not to kneel down for 12 weeks.
He didn't listen but that's DH - stubborn to the last!
Hope everything goes well for you.

Me - but years ago so methods/recovery have changed.

dh had a cartlidge and ligament repair (keyhole) in October. It was day surgery (in fact much less than a day). He was back driving within the week although it was his left leg which does less work when driving.

He had small dressings on and a crepe bandage over the top so not massively restricitng. He's a wuss and barely complained so it must have been OK.
