Colonoscopy prep

To ask if it’s necessary to drink all of the solution?

I’ve drank 1 litre of my moviprep made into solution (so half of the total). It was lemon flavoured and smelt… appealing, although I certainly wouldn’t relish drinking it.

I’ve just been to the toilet and it’s come out completely yellow. I’ve had one colonoscopy before, and that time I drank 3/4 of it, and it was completely fine.

I am rather petite, I don’t know if this means I probably need to drink less?

Any advice ?

I've had 4 colonoscopy's and I've always drank all of the solution. The one I always had to take was vanilla flavoured and just the smell of it made me gag 🤮 but I would say if what is coming out the other end is mostly clear / pale yellow water then you're all good as that would mean it's all cleared out inside. Good luck and make sure to plan something delicious to eat after!

Thanks,

I do feel they give a lot more than required, especially if you’ve been following the diet properly for the days beforehand - I can’t imagine there’s much inside of me to get rid of at this point!

@overthinking23 I still dream about the cheese sandwich and coffee they gave me after my last one! I had never tasted anything so good.

Feeling a little nauseous and have a headache now, so will get an early night I think in preparation.

You've got through the worst bit now, well done!
Like you I was very worried about the procedure, firstly I had a cannula inserted in the back of my hand for the 'light sedation', that was fine.
The consultant came and took me into the procedure room, he was really lovely, told me it wouldn't be nearly as bad as I feared -- I didn't believe him. But he was right. The light sedation was fantastic, I was really relaxed and couldn't feel a thing.
(Yes, it's a bit embarrassing at first but the team was very caring and matter of fact about it all.)
i was extremely chatty while it was going on, clearly higher than a kite.
They found a small polyp and removed it then and there. Again, no sensation at all. At one stage I shifted slightly, probably a bit uncomfortable, and they immediately upped the sedation, and asked me several times if I needed any more.
Afterwards they gave me a lovely cup of tea and a couple of biscuits which I wolfed down and DH took me home.
The polyp was tested and was non-malignant. All in all it was a very positive experience (apart from the prep!)
