Psychological incontinence

Hi,
my mum is going through chemo for a rare and aggressive cancer. It’s really taken a major toll on her physically and mentally. She’s really struggling with urinary incontinence. Her cancer is not part of her urinary system or bowel.
she’s pretty much ok in the house, some increased urgency- but constantly having accidents when’s she’s out. As a results she’s become very very anxious about going out and believes she really can’t do much anymore as she’s scared of anyone noticing.she wears incontinence pants when ever she goes out now.
She’s had a test done and no infections. Her oncology team have no explanation of why this is happening.
she’s in her 70’s but heathy before the cancer.
because it only happens when she’s out I am wondering if she has got it in to her mind that it’s going to happens- so it does? Could it possibly be a psychological problem? Her worry and anxiety making it worse? Has anyone ever heard of this? I know if I start thinking “oh, I might need a wee” it does make me want to go. Has anyone experience of this? If it might be psychological how might I broach this sensitively with her?

Can be that at home she can go to toilet fast, but outside cannot as toilets are not available in that short distance and just cannot hold it ?

Incontinence pants are also different, most are made only for smaller leaks not for weeing. Maybe first make sure she uses good absorbency ones so that she does not need to worry. This will take off the fear of wetting pants and should eliminate the psychological factor.
