Please can I have some advice about tummy bugs

My 18month dd has got a tummy bug. She's had the odd bout of sickness but this one has really taken hold and I'm a bit worried. She's had nothing to eat since Friday tea and just wants to sleep all day. Yesterday was a nightmare, she couldn't even stomach water. She seemed a bit brighter this morning but has deteriorated as the morning has gone on. She's in bed at the moment. Can anybody give me some advice on how to deal with this? Should I try her with tiny bits of food, and if so, what should I try? I'm shattered! Was up all night with her Friday and because she slept nearly all day yesterday, was up at 2.30am this morning! Bed at 8pm for me tonight I think! Thankyou everyone

Don't worry about the food, it's very important that she drinks. Is she still weeing? I know it's nosey but if she's dehydrated you need to get her some medical help asap!

Are her eyes sunken, mouth dry? Can she toletate some flat lemonade or rehydration solution? little bits often.

agree the food is not an issue - but she must drink. Children dehydrate quickly so even if she is being sick, its important she still sips water. I hope she gets better soon

I think she is dehydrated. She is drinking a lot though. I must admit her nappies are rather dry for the amount she is drinking. I am giving her diluted apple juice. Is that ok? I will take her to the doctors tomorrow if she's no better.

Is she drowsy? Dehydrated kids are drowsy at first then perk up but they are even more dehydrated. It's the electrolytes that she looses when she vomits, you can't replace these with juice but giving her this is an indication that she can tolerate fluids. Have you had many wet nappies in the last 24 hours? The input won't be the same as the output because she's probably sweating. Have you got some oral rehydration fluid? (rehydrate). You should give NHS direct a call just to check that there's noting else you need to do. Hope she's feeling better soon.
