Endoscopy, so scared

I have an endoscopy booked to check for stomach cancer. I'm terrified that I have it. But I also have post viral fatigue and so far all tests (blood, urine, poo, chest x-ray) have been normal.
I am convinced that I have symptoms of stomach cancer though. Pleaser, any advice very welcome.

I had an endoscopy recently and it was fine - both the procedure and the results. It was more for my oesophagus than my stomach though. The good thing is that they tell you your results straight away.

Thank you, it's good to hear a positive story.

I had an endoscopy at the end of Jan and it went well, they took biopsies and a test to see if I had Pylori. So far nothing to note from the tests they took there. The procedure was absolutely fine. I had a light sedation and all I remember was farting when they'd finished as I thought I was the only one that could hear 🤣. Ask for sedation and you honestly will not remember a thing, and its all over so quickly.
The week after my endoscopy I had to go for a Manometry and PH testing, this time up the nose and down the throat, again it was perfectly fine, not at all anything to worry about.
The doc arranges these tests to rule anything out but most of the time they're all absolutely fine.
The procedure will be over in no time and I'm sure your results will be ok.
I'm the most anxious person on earth and I had a word with myself, took a few deep breaths and went for it. They will no doubt take biopsies and will probably be able to give you some indication of their findings after the procedure upon inspection before the biopsy results come back.

Good luck, you'll be fine xx

Arniesleftleg Thank you for replying. I am glad to know you get an indication of the biopsy result if you have one.

@Tinypetunia

I had an endoscopy last year, and was diagnosed with gastritis almost straight after the procedure. I was given the option of choosing sedation or no sedation. (it's light sedation, not a general anaesthetic).
I wanted to be brave, (and drive myself there and back), so opted for no sedation. BIG MISTAKE.
It was awful - I could feel every movement of the instrument and was "gagging", but didn't ask the nurse to stop, as I just wanted it over and done with.
I have heard from people who, like @Arniesleftleg, said sedation makes the procedure totally straightforward and unproblematic, so if I was ever to have another endoscopy, asking for sedation would be a no-brainer.
Hope that helps, and good luck Flowers
