I had some random blood tests as I turn 50 this year and wanted to make sure everything was tip top as I haven't been to a GP for many a year. All came back ok other than 2 things. I told them I would register anaemic (as despite my best efforts, I always have been) but as in other blood tests, I almost always show a low level of inflammation. I have had investigations before (colonoscopy/endoscopy) which have concluded that I probably have some low level inflammatory disorder as I have malabsorption but nothing that could be diagnosed and nothing hugely affecting my health. I had some skin rashes at the time so everyone decided I must have low level psoriasis which is why I had low level inflammation. Case closed.
Except now my inflammation is still there, RBC and Hg still subnormal but now my ferritin is high. Apparently this is a classic sign of anaemic of chronic inflammation.
GP now wants to get to the bottom of this except I have no other symptoms. Don't have any current skin rashes though they think I have rosacea. Could that be causing all the issue?
Is it possible to have this without it being serious? I am the opposite of health anxious but also don't want to be so laissez faire that I ignore something that I should be fixing.
