Does anyone know if this is something I need to call a doctor about? I’m worried he had he’s vaccinations today and he’s temperature has gone quite high. He’s first dose he spat lots out and it didn’t help he’s temperature much and I have just given the second realising it was only 3 hours ago not 4! I feel dreadful now will this be harmful? 😣

Don't give it a second thought. Even if he took the first full dose, there's no problem. Hope the temp comes down soon and you can feel less worried.

He'll be fine , you won't be the only parent who has done this xx

He'll be fine, it is easily done (and easy to worry too!). Just make sure you leave it 5 hours until the next dose and don't exceed the max 24 hour dose

My DC was in hospital at the same age and needed painkillers. Granted they did it on weight (though she was a tiny little thing), but she was given a dose much higher than the one on the calpol box. The doctor said they are deliberately on the low side on the box for exactly this reason.

No don’t worry yourself

DH and I have always done shared care, when you have sick kids and feel like a zombie yourself it’s easy to mix up doses.

Our solution was a separate WhatsApp group to our normal conversation called something like kids meds. We’d put on there what DC, what meds and what dose, so it was easily accessible for each other, if say the other one had gone for a nap. As they’re time stamped, it really helped.

With my own foggy brain I checked it lots, even when I’d done the last dose myself just to be certain.

They're not 'covering themselves' they're focusing on patient safety.

Meds should be done by weight not age but over time the counter ones have to be done by age so it's appropriate to be at the more cautious end to allow for variations in size of children.
