On so many meds

I'm taking so many meds now it is hard to keep track. The GPs had the pharmacist check it and apparently it is all OK.

Fluoxetine
Olanzapine
Another antipsychotic for dizziness and vertigo
Pregabalin
Co-codomol.

Is anyone else similar? I feel trusted as need to be careful with them and one is a controlled drug (pregabalin)

Yep me. On 5 that's 3 types of HRT and 2 anti depressants. What can you do though if you need them to correct an imbalance.

I am no Pharmacist but I know a fair bit about psych meds and the ones you have named are fine to take together. Can’t comment on the one you didn’t name though! X

I'm probably going to be on HRT soon as well

I have a pre-payment cert which helps

it's about ten pounds a month

I have pre payment to, it does save a lot of money. Can I ask you how did you find pregablin? I might be switching Mirtazapine for this.

Orangesandlemons77 · 22/02/2023 20:15

I have also taken Mirtazapine in the past. I can't really remember it much but I think it made me sleep and eat. I changed to Fluoxetine which I had taken previously and got on with better.

I have only been taking Pregabalin for a week or so. It really helps with the pain. I'm not on it for depression but for pain.

It is making me quite fuzzy headed / spaced out though. More so than Co-codomol.

On the subject of pre-payment, if you have that does it cover HRT or do you have to have another one for that?

I take levothyoxine, citalopram, omeprazole and HRT pessaries. I broke my shoulder 18 months back and have had a bone density scan which revealed osteopenia (early stages of osteoporosis basically). I started taking vit D and calcium supplement when I broke my arm which both orthopaedics and my GP agreed was a good idea.

I get free prescriptions due to the thyroxine. Apparently they don't routinely prescribe vitamin supplements any more, so I pay for the vitamin D/calcium which is fine, I just get them cheap in Boots.

I can't see why a prepayment card wouldn't cover HRT.

I'm on a POP, montelukast for asthma along with preventative inhaler, an antihistamine for rhinitis, gabapentin for TN and now omeprazole and naproxen for the next month for shoulder impingement. I rattle at bedtime!

I am on 22 different meds every day - steroids for Addisons, lupus medication, stuff for bladder issues, asthma meds, HRT, amitriptyline, Tramadol, all sorts. People are always shocked when I tell them but I’m in a lot of chronic autoimmune type forums and it isn’t that uncommon at all. I’ve given up worrying about it now. I wouldn’t be alive or have any quality of life without them all.

WentForAWalk · 22/02/2023 20:55

I take 12 different medications, including Lamotrigine, Betmiga, Propranolol, Solifenacin and Diazepam.

Luckily i don't have to pay for them (medical excemption).

Yes, a PPC does cover HRT, as well as other prescribed medications.
