Since he got up this morning he won't walk or stand. We've looked at his feet and his heels are red and he pulls away when we touch. He's had his milk and cheerios ok but is a bit whingy in himself.

The only thing we've done different is we took him swimming yesterday so could chlorine have affected him?

Any ideas?

unliely the chlorine IMO but I would leave it an hour or so and then, ifhe still can't put weight on it, take him to A&E.

DS3 couldn't put weight on his hand the ther day and I thought he had sprained his wrist or soemthing but a couple of hours later he was fine.

LIZS · 09/02/2008 09:43

has he had a cold ? Can cause inflammation of the fluids around joints, try nurofen

Phoenix · 09/02/2008 09:47

Possibly Lizs cos i'm starting with a cold so he could be, thanks. We'll keep an eye on him.

We've just looked again and there are red lumps/marks on both his heels.

I would take him to A&E

CantSleepWontSleep · 09/02/2008 09:56

Oh dear. Hand foot & mouth? Just guessing really. Think I'd take him to the docs. Not quite what you had in mind for his birthday

Phoenix · 09/02/2008 10:03

We did most birthday things with him yesterday and not having a party. We're gonna take him to walk in centre i think. My mum thinks it could be some sort of infection.

Oh no Phoenix, defo one for the Dr's, not sure what it could be, but doens't sound nice for your poor ds

Saturn74 · 09/02/2008 11:39

I expect you have left to take your DS to see a doctor, and hope all is well.
You are certainly doing the right thing by getting him assessed asap.

DontDreamItBeIt · 09/02/2008 15:18

I hope he gets on ok at the drs. No idea what it could be, so you are definitely right to get it checked.

Phoenix · 09/02/2008 17:19

Right, quick update - they are keeping ds in hospital overnight. They're treating it as an infection so he needs ab's via a canula on his birthday too. I've just nipped home for some things for me and him and hope they put the canula in while i'm not there. He's been crying hysterically whenever a doc or nurse has been near him

Hope he is home very soon.

CantSleepWontSleep · 09/02/2008 18:07

Oh Phoenix . Hope they sort him out quickly and he's up and running again very soon.

trace2 · 14/02/2008 09:02

am hijacking thread

we went swimming to same pool yesterday now ds 5 can not walk, is it the pool?

Sycamoretree · 14/02/2008 09:15

You should contact the pool surely? Do you and Pheonix know each other - is that how you know you went to same pool? Get your DS to A&E aswell and call the pool to advise...goodness knows what it could be that they have picked up, but imagine how many kiddiwinkles have been exposed. Hope all DC's get well soon.

Phoenix · 14/02/2008 09:18

Yes we know eachother. Trace2 her dh and dd were with us when we went last week but her ds didn't come but he went yesterday. Both my ds and her ds spent a lot of time walking round the pool rather than in it. All 4 adults and trace2's dd were fine.
