Took 2 paracetamol and codeine tablets at 9pm last night. then two Ibuprofen at 11pm. Then another 2 paracetamol and codeine at 2.30am.
It says on the packet, no more than 8 in 24 hours. I cannot think straight at all, does it mean that I cna only take 4 more between now and 9pm tonight, or can I take the 2.30 lot as being the first dose in 24 hours?

Only 4 more between now and 9. No more than 6 in any 24 hour period. Apart from the risks with the paracetamol, codeine can be addictive so you must be careful

I feel so sorry for you saltire. It's horrible to think of you in constant pain.

Is your pain in a specific place or all over? I was thinking you could try a TENs machine.

Sorry - no more than 8 in any 24 hours.

I think that is too many and may make you feel worse.Nurofen do some slow release ones for back pain you could try those.Codeine are addictive even in small doses and not that good for muscular pain tbhYou will feel foggy with codeine.Fibromyalgia responds well to exercise Is there a pool near you?

Saggar - it varies. Sometimes it can be one ahnd, or one foot, or even one finger that is in pain. other times it can be all over. Today I feel like I have been run over by a steamroller. My legs, from thighs to toes are sore, my arms down to the wrists, , and across my shoulder and neck and up the side of my face. It's all sore.

Noddy - know how addictive codeine can be, I don't know if you saw my post the other day where I was saying that the pain doctor had told me to stop taking them as he reckoned they were causing me migraines and therefore causing the rest of the pain. He also told my GP who has stopped giving me them on repeat. BUT, I am at the point where I need something, I was actually crying ast night with the pain. That's how bad I ahve been over the past week. I haven't slept properly in about 2 weeks because the pain is keeping me awake, so it's a desperate measure to try and stop the pain and get through the day.

I have taken 2 more Ibuprofen, and will try to hold off on the paracetamol and codeine until later today

codeine do cause more pain They are absolutely hopeless for anything rheumatic or inflammatory.Better to take the nurofen continually or soluble aspirin at the max dose for a few days At least you will be out of the fog.I had similar and kept taking coseine and it did nothing apart from make me drowsy which helped as I didn't give a damn but not good in the long term. The headaches are probably linked to the fibro The only thing that works for me is steroids and there is an extract you can buy at the chemist bromelain which mimics steroids and is very good.Takes about a week to sowk though HTH

The higher strength co-codamol i used to get made me sleep, which taken at night with the Amitryptiline helped me sleep, which was good. Didn't really help the pain, just made it a bit more bearable
I don't get that many headaches - or at least not as many as the pain doc seems to think. he says its not Fibro, but is caused by migraines making all the ligaments tense. Given that I am in pain about 80% of the time, yet don't have migraines for that amount of time, then surely his theory is wrong?
The facial pain is awful, right down the side of my face, ove rthe jaw and round into my neck.
As for the steroids - well since neither my GP or the pain doctor now believe that I have Fibro, then they won't give me any other kind of painkiller. I have asked! I also asked for a referral to a physio so i can get a walking stick for the bad days, but they won't do that either!
I know you have suffered with a lot of pain as well, so you know how I am probably feeling.

saltire · 10/02/2008 13:22

I do get some effect in my eyes. Usually a blinding pain behind them, making me think my eyeball is going to burst. I do sometimes get flashing lights
