dd aged two and a half has been unable to wee all day today.
She has screamed/protested that she doesn't need one and tells me "it hurts in there"

After trying her again late afternoon, I layed her down to have a look if she was sore at all. Everything looked exactly as it should except a dry and slightly pink looking crusty stuff( sorry don't know better way to say it) on her labia which I cleaned off .

I took her to the evening g.p who had a quick look and said that as she seemed otherwise o.k I should encourage her to drink and wee and give her nurafen.
If no change by tomorrow lunchtime then I should get her checked again.
Tonight when putting her to bed....still no wee.
I noticed a watery blood in her pants and she said it hurts her (and points near to her belly button
She has gone off to bed without any bother so is not in agony
any ideas?

Glad she is feeling better. That is a mystery. did they collect a sample while she was doing a wee? Really pleased that she is fine again.

They know how to give us a fright, don't they???

no they didn't collect a sample.
I was waiting to take her to the childrens ward.
There was a Dr on the phone to the ward and dd still had her dry pull up on from the night befor.
I was putting on her coat to go to the other side of the hospital and was so suprised to see her firstly double up then look so pleased with herself that she had finally done it.
I'm insisting that she drinks loads today to flush her through and so far she seems fine.

Glad she's better .My DD 2.5 had a urine infection - we didn't know until she was so ill she had a febrile convulsion because of her temperature. Looking back, the only symptom we could see was that her wee smelled funny - but because she wasn't ill, we just ignored it and thought it must have been something she ate. She ended up in hospital for 4 days on antibiotics, so do keep and eye on her. They tried to put a catheter in to get a sample after we failed to catch one in 4 hours) but all the prodding caused her to wee in the docs faces .

We know that what caused it was most likely a lunctime nap where she got into her dirty nappy. We never put her down without pj bottoms on, on top of her nappy now...
