How common is this? Ds has just been diagnosed with it, and to be honest I think he might have had it for a while. Any experiences with this? It just seems so young to be getting it. Have just read NHS direct web site and complications and scared my self to death. I can tell he;s exhausted as he went to bed tonight and didn;t even want a story.

Any advise gratefully received.

My friend's dd had it at age 5 and was tired for about 6-9 months. This is not unusual apparently. She went to school part time for a while which helped. If it's any consolation, it gets it over with before he is a teen/twenty something. If he has had it for a while he won't get any more poorly, just the yucky fatigue which thankfully goes away. Poor wee thing though. Easy for me to say all this...

btw, the fatigue eases gradually so he won't be this tired for much longer.

Thanks Nicky, Funny you should say 6/9 months cause I remember at school kids getting it being ill/tired for months. The doc says that it should clear up in about 2 weeks. I wonder how contagious it is.
Glad tiredness eases, I've said that he;s looked tired for ages, with big bags under his eyes and yawning even though he;s in bed by 7.30 and is a good sleeper.

Have to keep an eye on it I guess
