High Diastolic Blood pressure

I have high blood pressure but my bottom number is always higher like 93-97. My top number never crosses 135. I am on 10mg amlodipine which brings it down to 83. Anyone in a similar situation? All bloods have come back normal. I have poor sleep due to an infant, maybe one of the reasons!

Yup I get different kinds of readings, although for me it's the systolic that tends to go higher (also on that dosage).

I do my own readings as I get "white coat hypertension." But I had my check up last week, and the nurse was pleased with my numbers - I'm generally around 128/76 but my first reading of the day is often up to 138, while the lower number is rarely above 80.

My diastolic reading is always the highest, I take lisinopril. Hbp runs in the family, so assume its just one of those things as diet/exercise have a minimal impact.

@Stickytreacle does the lisnopril work? I'm thinking of discussing with my GP for a change of medicine as mu diastolic never goes below 85. If I am stressed it shoots up to 93

83 is ok though. 93 when stressed isn't too bad - it's sustained high blood pressure that's the problem.

@BlueHeelers I'm on low dose beta blockers and that's around what mine are now consistently- I've had my diastolic as low as 54 occasionally whilst on beta blockers and that worries me too when that happens- you can't win!!

I was told this too. Not to worry that it is labile, but if it is sustained then that is a different matter. Mine can jump from 80s to just top 90s. I take atenolol.

The lisinopril works for me, home readings are fine, but rocket at the surgery 🙄
