chronic fatigue, zombie 24/7

I've been feeling like I haven't slept in 48 hours every day. My GP keeps prescribing me sleeping pills, but they only make me feel worse. I've tried taking supplements like relora, ashwagandha, and seriphos, but after three weeks, I still feel no effect.

During the day, I feel like a zombie, but after 7 pm, I get a sudden burst of energy and can complete tasks I couldn't do earlier. I don't know what to tell my GP anymore. I'm at my wit's end and feel frustrated lying in bed all day, feeling weak and tired with no energy. I've been on fluoxetine since August 2022, but the effects have worn off since January. I've tried to improve my health by going for walks and eating a better diet, but nothing seems to help.

My GP hasn't been much help, so I've decided to take the private route and see a private doctor. I have a call scheduled with my GP to discuss changing my medication. If anyone has any advice or similar experiences, please share!"

I have a scheduled call with my doctor to discuss changing my medication. If anyone has gone through similar experiences or has any advice, I would love to hear it.

What is your expectation from a change in medication?

Sorry you feel so shit, just sympathy. I have long covid and the Drs know nothing, sorry…

My chronic fatigue started in my mid-40s. I started HRT in my early 50s and, while I'm still fairly knackered most of the time, I am now mostly functioning and sometimes I even feel brilliant.

Have you had blood tests?
I had severely low vitD a few years back, and honestly thought I was dying.
Also had covid last July, and just got over a really bad cough, and feel like I'm permanently brewing another virus.
Hope you feel better soon.

Are you peri? That was my first thought. It crashed my energy.

UhhhhhhhOK · 13/02/2023 22:19

yes have you has blood tests to rule out stuff? Bit odd if the dr hasn’t suggested this.

I have long Covid and although most symptoms dropped off after a few months the fatigue remains. I had fatigue management training last year and although I've been unable to action it yet for other reasons, the way to get over fatigue (eventually) is to sleep for 8 hours at the same time every night, take small (no more than 15 minute) naps in the day, avoid caffeine and alcohol, and build your exercise and fitness levels gradually. Know that fatigue is not fixed by sleeping like 'tiredness is, so sleeping more won't give you any more energy for the next day. All you can do is manage what little energy you have as conservatively as possible while trying not to do too much. It's a balancing act but once you find your own sweet spot you should improve.
It feels counter intuitive initially but those on the course who didn't immediately catch covid again did report ongoing gradual improvement within weeks. I hope it works for you.

Vitamin D supplements have been a game changer for me

Teaandtoast3 · 13/02/2023 23:33

I am exactly the same so when you find out please let me know

vivainsomnia · 14/02/2023 09:52

These could be the symptoms of sleep apnea. You should be referred for a sleep study.

worldwidetravel2017 · 17/07/2023 14:36

Sounds like cfs or long covid
