Purple, numb and cold feet

Toooldformarketing · 13/02/2023 19:02

Has anyone else got this? I have purple and white, numb and cold feet.

They look like the feet of a dead person and they feel numb like slabs of meat 🤣 sorry for the description

I'm 35. But I'm beginning to get worried.

I'm 5ft 2 and run 5k's when they arent numb and when I'm feeling alright but I generally feel fatigued and too rotten to run. I'm 9 stone 5.

My NHS GP is usually quite dismissive and tends to shrug / Google things.

Anyone had similar?

How are your hands?

WooWooWinnie · 13/02/2023 19:05

I have this, and in my hands too. It’s Reynauds Phenomenon (/syndrome). Not really anything to worry about. Just try and keep your feet warm!

Toooldformarketing · 13/02/2023 19:06

Hey @tulips27 , hands are generally OK and normal skin colour and texture. Rarely numb or cold.

The skin on my feet is beginning to change texture also.

A relief it sounds like Raynauds. I'm just so fatigued and my body hurts. Glad it isn't serious x

Well I don't think you can conclude that for definite from one person who doesn't have a photo and hasn't seen your feet.

It may be Reynaud's, but my understanding is you'd expect that to improve in the summer - is that something you find, OP?

I'd really recommend seeing a GP if you're concerned. The NHS website says if Reynaud's is impacting your daily life (which it presumably is if you feel too fatigued to do anything, whether or not that is because of Reynaud's).

You could also try 111's symptom checker:

Hi OP, I have Raynauds and for a visual aid this is what my fingers look like mid attack. Mine is triggered by temperature shock as well as cold weather so picking up a cold bottle of milk in mid summer can bring it on. I find fluffy heat holder socks and gloves are a life saver.

I can't say I've ever felt poorly with it though, or unable to live my everyday life and I've had it my whole existence. I suggest it may be an idea to get yourself to the doctor as to me you are not describing typical Raynauds (I'm aware that symptoms do vary and my anecdotal experience does not equal data) - but Raynauds can be a symptom of other conditions so worth getting checked out.

I have a friend with confirmed Raynauds whose symptoms continue in summer when using cold taps, walking in freezer aisles in supermarkets etc.

@Toooldformarketing id still get checked out. Could be another circulatory issue.

Oh thank you so much for the photo!

My feet definitely look quite dark purple actually. E.g my toenails look like they've been painted a dull purple / grey lavender colour.

I'll call the GP tomorrow but I doubt I'll be able to get an appointment for ages.

I think I can sign up for a private GP via work so I'll give that a go. Never done it before and keep forgetting I have it! X

I'm not a fan of getting older!

Yeah, that doesn't sound like Raynauds. The blood literally drains out of my fingers and toes and leaves them stark white and almost translucent. If it's really bad then they get a slight blue/purple tinge but only when the blood has gone back in again. The feeling of an attack is like I've got my hands or feet in ice water and it tingles like crazy when they warm up again.

WorriedMillie · 13/02/2023 19:43

This is definitely worthy of further investigation, especially coupled with the fatigue 🌸

Pyewhacket · 13/02/2023 19:45

Call 111.

I have a private GP through work. I booked an appointment on line last week for something, within 45 mins had had the appointment and got a referral from it!

Toooldformarketing · 13/02/2023 20:24

@HitTheRoadJackAndDontYouComeBack wow that's amazing! I've downloaded the app and I'll crack on with getting an appointment tomorrow.

Thanks everyone. X

Hi op, my dd has Raynauld’s & it is normal for her to have purple feet unfortunately. They go much worse than this too. They are also numb & cold. Please see a dr to get checked though.

My daughter Down Syndrome has Raynaulds (diagnosed) and her hands and feet are just like Badgerstmary’s DD and do get much worse, mind you she is mixed race which does make it look worse. But as pp’s say best to get it checked.
