Just looking for some advice

Had shaky hands/arms since Thursday yesterday I could feel it all through my body and felt dizzy at times & had chest pains, weakness in arms and pains in right arm felt like I was struggling to hold things. Went to the doctors and they think it's in my head basically. I'm worried and hoping someone else has been through similar and can tell me there experience. I'm a single mum with no family or friends so worried something is going to happen and my kids will be left alone and no one will be able to help me. Im trembling non stop it doesn't go away but sometimes get worse, I can feel it in my legs and shoulders too. Tia

Are you on medication at all? Are you quite a lot overweight? I'm on beta blockers and statins and get feelings like this most days for 10 minutes or so . Also did they check your blood pressure at all ? I had exactly your symptoms come on out the blue- pretty frightening and when I went to doctors my blood pressure was incredibly high- I had bloods done and my cholesterol was incredibly high too.

Kate8990 · 12/02/2023 15:49

I've had this.
It's anxiety and the more you worry about it the worse it gets. My arms and legs have been weak with it and feeling light headed. I actually went to A&E on one occasion because I thought I was dying, but nope I'm still here and basically after blood tests and an ECG there's nothing wrong with me. It's in my head. They gave me a diazepam to calm me down so if it gets worse and you think going to A&E will put your mind at rest, I say go. Severe anxiety is crippling and really impacts your day to day life so it's worth going if you feel the need. Please keep posting if it helps you ❤️ Wouldn't wish that on my worst enemy, it's horrendous!

@Kate8990 you are correct though- the reason the doctor put me on beta blockers was because it became a viscious circle, I had enormous headaches and light headed feelings because of the blood pressure issues , this then caused me chronic anxiety and I couldn't sleep- which caused headaches and numbness etc -

LizzieBrooks · 12/02/2023 18:55

I feel like this when I’m anxious. Acknowledging that it is anxiety helps somewhat as the worry that there is something else wrong makes the anxiety get worse. Distraction is the best remedy-though easier said than done.

MrsRickAstley · 12/02/2023 19:00

Don't go to A&E with anxiety please. It's neither. Granted it might feel like an emergency but it's not.

Kate8990 · 12/02/2023 19:21

@MrsRickAstley I'm guessing you've never had a severe panic attack. Try telling yourself not to go to A&E if you ever do get a full blown panic attack, god forbid.
You can't say something isn't an emergency if you've never experienced it. If you had you wouldn't ill advise OP not to seek emergency treatment if she needs it. It sounds extremely ignorant.

Crikeyalmighty · 12/02/2023 19:40

I can only say the 50 something female registrar at A&E was marvellous with me- her first comment was 'no wonder you feel like crap with that blood pressure' - let's get you checked over.

Shudacudawuda · 12/02/2023 21:43

Did the doctor do any blood tests?
It would be worth checking your thyroid function, jitteriness and trembling can be hyperthyroid - I know from personal experience.

GrazingSheep · 12/02/2023 21:59

@MrsRickAstley
That’s an amazing skill you have! The ability to diagnose a health issue over the internet and advise against A&E.

MrsRickAstley · 13/02/2023 18:08

Why thank you.

However it's just common sense really.
