Heart rate over 200

Has anyone had a heart rate above 200 and it turn out to be something benign or ‘normal’? It happened to me on Wednesday suddenly and hasn’t happened since and I’m not entirely sure if I should be getting it checked out. Writing this down I know if it were someone else I’d say of course don’t be stupid!? But I just wondered if it could be anxiety, stress? I’m probably going to contact the gp on Monday but just wanted to see if anyone else has had similar?

Does an ok ECG mean that OP can't have tachycardia?

I would want to manually confirm the heart rate not just rely on Apple watch. do you know how to take your own pulse?

Have you got a watch which records ECG? You need to keep an eye on it as undiagnosed AF is a stroke risk and like you say it doesn’t always happen when you are monitored for 48hours only. Did you have your hands and arms above your head when it happened doing housework?

I agree look on YouTube and see how to manually take your own pulse. Keep a diary. Don’t ignore these symptoms because drugs are readily available and very effective if indicated.

Thanks for the replies. It really worries me when it happens but I also feel like a hypochondriac when the ecg shows fine. Plus the fact it’s my Apple Watch that’s recording it makes me think is it recording properly?….but it’s the actual heart palpitations that makes me check my watch not the other way round. It also sorted itself out within a minute both times so I’m not sure I’d manage to take my pulse in time by the time I feel it coming on. I feel knackered and out of sorts for a while afterwards. I’ll ring my gp on Monday and see what he says.

I have SVT. This is exactly what it does, HR shoots up to 200bpm.
I have been through all the tests and had a diagnosis. My instructions are to go to A&E if it stays very high for more than 15minutes. My cardiologist assures me that it's not a heart attack and it's not dangerous if it comes down ok but if it doesn't come down on it's own you need treatment.
They will be very familiar with it at A&E.

I would have questioned your watch but clearly you can feel it. I know what it's like.

Just to add that my ecg was normal but I then had a "stress test" and conveniantly had an episode there in hospital in front of the doctor while wired up!
An ecg would have picked up AF unless it was paroxysmal.
Mine is really well controlled with calcium channel blockers.

Thanks for your reply. Good to know that even if it is something like SVT, the fact it’s sorting itself out is good. My chest still aches today but I’m ok in myself physically. I only really notice the ache when I sit down. It’s just scary when it happens and as I don’t know what it is, worried me more.
