Waxing after birth..how long did you wait?

I’m 6 weeks post partum and I know you’d think why the heck would I want to get waxed.
truth be told it’s not due to sex as still scared to do that but I feel fresher and less irritated when I am waxed there. Lately I feel more sweaty :( I therefore wondered when did everyone else decide to go back to waxing / hollywood or bikini!

i had second degree tear so had stitches- unsure if healed but would it be safe to have wax now as 6 weeks / hollywood or something similar?

Really?

FT123456 · 10/02/2023 19:18

Everyone would heal differently. I think if you feel ready you can only give it a go.

sunseaandme · 10/02/2023 19:23

If I were you I'd wait a bit longer than six weeks. But it is your choice ☺️Not that it's probably relevant but I used hair removal cream down there about 3 months post partum and where the stitches had been it stang like a bitch!! Confused me because I thought they were healed but mustn't have been fully healed ??

turnthebiglightoff · 10/02/2023 19:29

Do not wax your fanny if you have stitches. Really, unbelievably bad idea.

TomatoSandwiches · 10/02/2023 19:33

Currently 15 yrs and just under 1 month,
I doubt that will change anytime soon.

Dissolveable stitches I’m sure they said they’d be gone by 6 weeks as defo wouldn’t with stitches in!

I think the old adage, "what's the worst that could happen?", might be relevant here.

Hohofortherobbers · 10/02/2023 19:57

I haven't waxed since Dc1 aged 11. I still can't believe I used to inflict such unnecessary trauma on my poor vulva Sad. I treat it to a gentle trim occasionally, nothing more.

Ridingfree · 10/02/2023 19:59

I'd worry about the pulling and pressure opening an old wound. Stitches may dissolve but the skin will still be healing

TheUsualChaos · 10/02/2023 20:08

shudders
you want to do what now? I mean..why not..just..give it all a bit of a trim?

Myeyeballsareonfire · 10/02/2023 20:13

I think I was about 12 weeks post partum this time. But I have never had stitches and had a very straightforward birth, so I can’t say what I’d have done otherwise.

Swiftbushome · 10/02/2023 20:27

Bloody hell I wouldn't after only 6 weeks 😬. I think I waited about 6 months but then I had an episiotomy. I was absolutely terrified on my first wax PP.
Honestly if you really want to then I'd ask a midwife for advice.

DobbyTheHouseElk · 10/02/2023 20:30

It takes six months for internal muscle trauma to heal. As a wax therapist, I wouldn’t be insured to wax you so soon after birth.

Anon300 · 10/02/2023 20:30

30 years and counting.

MajorCarolDanvers · 10/02/2023 20:31

Healthier and more hygienic to be as nature intended

buckingmad · 10/02/2023 20:32

6 weeks but I had a c section

TooExtraImmatureCheddar · 10/02/2023 20:35

Has your lochia stopped yet even? I can’t think of anything I’d want less than waxing 6 weeks PP. <shudders>

doadeer · 10/02/2023 20:40

I waited about 7 months! I had a c section

Bunny2021 · 10/02/2023 20:59

3.5 months. I went to my most trusted waxer and explained that it was my first post birth - she really took her time and it was totally fine.

FuglyBitch · 10/02/2023 21:02

Hair helps with dissipating the sweat away. Waxing makes your skin feel moist from sweat
