Bile after eating fat (post gallbladder removal)

I had my gallbladder removed 6 months ago. All has been well. Occasionally I get an upset tummy if I eat fatty food.

Seems like my full English breakfast has caused my bile production to go into overdrive.

I'm now in a lot of discomfort, yellow diarrhoea all day and bloating. Any suggestions of how I can get some relief?

No advice sorry, but following as I have the exact same problem! I cannot for the life of me pin point what foods are triggering it.
Within minutes the tummy grumbles start & the inevitable runs happen.

I'm about to have my gallbladder out and I've been warned this could be an issue. I was told there's something that can be done about it though? Have you checked with a doc?

My understanding, and I may well be wrong, is that nothing is causing a surge in bile production but rather your liver makes it and as you now have nowhere to store it (gallbladder), there’s a constant drip, drip, drip of the bile into your intestines.

I have bile acid malabsorption following gallbladder removal and it sounds very similar. The bile irritates my intestines causing the yellow diarrhoea or can back up into my stomach causing gastritis. I have to take medication for life now to control it and I certainly know when I’ve missed it. The diarrhoea in particular is awful but mine started with bloating and abdominal pains.

I had mine out two years ago almost to the day!
It's taken a long time to work out what my tummy triggers are!! But I have worked out so far it's nuts, avocado and mayonnaise that give me the tummy pain and associated poops! I think it's the the fats involved with these foods!
If I do get a bad stomach I just have to let it pass! But now I'm more aware of what will make me unwell so happens less and less!

I have the same symptoms following having my gall bladder out sometimes up to 50 times in 24 hours.

It's been suggested I might be suffering from BAM (Google it!) And I've been prescribed Questran (colestyramine). It's been two days since I started it and I have had no diarrhoea and my first solid poo in 6 months!! Even huge amounts of immodium didn't do that for me! I had to beg and nag and harass for any help/support/information though so you might need to do the same.

If you read reviews for the drug online you will see a lot of people saying it has given them their lives back. I'm hopeful that will be my experience.

Ps My dietician also said if I have BAM then diet changes may help slightly but I will never be well unless I am medicated. Forever.

Could well be BAM [ bile acid malabsorption ] I had my gall bladder removed around 15 years ago and for years after I thought I had IBS. Eventually sent to see a gastroenterologist and had a sehcat scan which confirmed I have BAM. Now on medical called binders for life which mostly helps keeps things under control.
