Bupa health assessment, anyone had one?

Hi all, has anyone had a Bupa heath assessment? Been thinking about it for years but now looking into it I just wondered if it was worth it? On their website I’ve been quoted £760 which seems very steep but worth it if it’s very good…

Depends what’s included, if it’s just blood tests, then a consultation afterwards to talk about diet, lifestyle, well women chat etc then personally I wouldn’t.

I’ve been feeling rubbish for a few years and have tried changing the diet , I do lots of exercise but nothing seems to help, I’ve seen my gp who referred me back in august but I’m on a never ending waiting list so just wondered if it’s worth going private

I've had a look at their website and am not wildly impressed. If they are charging the £760 for the most comprehensive option including the fitness then I might consider it but even then I doubt it. A private GP practice might offer you something better. One local to me charges £500 for their basic package which includes more bloods, stool test, urine test and 30 mins face to face.

I considered this a few years back and was told it was a waste of money and they don't do a lot... Well, not a lot that's worth it.

My DH had one last year and wasn't impressed. He said a visit to the GP would have done the same.

Twilightstarbright · 09/02/2023 17:55

DH did the one with the fitness assessment, he found it useful but it was included in our private insurance.

I don’t need to see someone to tell me to lose weight and I have regular blood tests and see Drs all the time. DH never does so found it good to have an MOT.

I get one every year from work (all employees do) - I have mine in a month so can let you know! My colleague's say it's ok and useful but not sure any of them would pay for it.

Mabelface · 09/02/2023 18:25

There's a few different ones. Mine included a mammogram and smear, full bloods, ecg, msk assessment and 30 minutes with a gp. Oh, and mole mapping.

It reminds me of garages that advertised cheap or even free pre-MOT checks, hoping to identify faults and get the repair work.

I reckon they’d tell me I need too much work and consider scrapping.

OP it sounds quite expensive.

Thanks all, it does seem a lot of money for something I could get done via the doctor, although my surgery have done all they can, maybe I’ll look into something still private but cheaper. Appreciate the feedback :-)
