Horrible teeth issue but no NHS dentists

I have been trying for months to get registered with an NHS dentist (private is not an option as I am on UC).
My mouth is now an awful mess. I have a tooth (upper middle, next to canine, so in my smile line) that has drifted so much, I can see the back of it in the mirror. It is sticking out between my lips, and lately seems to be moving a noticeable amount by the week.
I can't get an emergency appointment to have it pulled, as I am not in pain, and that seems to be the criteria to be seen.
A friend is going through a similar issue, and she is having to have an operation as the rapid tooth drift might be cancer in her jaw. So obviously that is also scaring the crap out of me.
Can I see a private dentist for a one off appointment to get a referral to the NHS?
I have considered pulling it myself, but there it the risk I will do myself some facial damage due to where it is.

Do you have a dental hospital in your area?
They take walk in's and the students will work on it.

Sadly not. The one closest to me is 50 miles away, and no longer taking walk ins. They are accepting referred emergencies, but I do not meet the criteria (which is severe pain, unable to eat/breath properly, or trauma)

There's a number to ring if you can't get into a dentist after so many tries

This is so depressing.

I cant believe the services have been neglected so much people are having to resort to this.

Hope you get your tooth sorted

There are no NHS dentists taking adults in my county and only one that I know of that has recently reopened its books to children. Dentistry in the UK is broken and people are being driven to taking extreme measures to relieve themselves of pain.

Tell them you are in pain

No nhs dentists around here either. We have been trying for ages. I have been on painkillers for over a year. My sister has a screw sticking out of her gum where a false tooth has fallen out. Can't get seen for anything. Not even if you are in pain.

Nhs 111 have said even when they can see you for pain one day it won't be to fix the problem but it would be to say give you some medicine whilst you wait to see if you can get into an nhs dentist. Completely useless unless you can afford private.

I was too honest, and said I was not. No pain, no treatment (like my username).

I am thinking it would best to hammer my self in the face so I have a broken tooth, so I can at least see someone.
How on earth has it come to this? It is ridiculous!
