Regrown tonsil in 3 year old

Posting here for traffic because I’m going out of my mind (sorry I know it’s not really allowed)

My nearly 3yo DS has a history of excessive tonsil tissue (surgeon said they were the biggest she’d ever seen - they were basically so big they covered his throat and came out onto his tongue). He had them out in September so less than 6 months ago at 2.5ys. Recently he has been eating much less again, tired, excessively dribbly (I changed his top 3 times today before lunch) so I looked in his mouth to find that one side has completely regrown - and then some.

I know it can be normal to have some regrowth but within 6 months it can’t be surely?!

When I Google all it comes up with is lymphoma and now I’m so panicked. The surgeon at Evelina says she is always concerned when kids like my DS can grow that amount of tissue in such a short space of time but I never pushed as to why because I was so relieved the surgery was over.

Has anyone ever had this? 😭

I am harassing the Gp tomorrow and contacting Evelina too, I just need some kind of reassurance.

Tonsils can regrow. Unlikely to be anything sinister.

especially if they are removed using coblation.

if they are causing clinical issues your child is likely to be offered further surgery.

@AdelaideRo what….after less than 6 months? 😬😩

Look you obviously don’t want reassurance.

contact the surgeons.

Dude, please don’t come at me, I’m just worried for my son and was asking for some reassurance with people who may have experienced similar because I’m feeling really worried and extremely anxious after nearly losing my 1yo to severe pneumonia last month.

Obviously I have contacted the necessary people. Thank you though 👍🏼

They would have sent off the removed tissue to pathology to check for anything sinister last time.

@trombolese

How did this pan out? Worried the same is happening to my daughter. Tonsils and adenoids out two months ago and looking in it seems one side is swollen. Snoring st night is also back - could it be a cold?
