Heart rate variability

I've just got a series 8 Apple Watch and from its tracking it looks like my average heart rate variability is 47. I am mid 30s.

I believe this is bad for my age?

Does anybody have any knowledge of HRV and how to improve it? I'm due to start IVF in a few months and want to be the healthiest I can be.

Would exercise be the way forward?

TIA

Check out this blog - particularly misconceptions 5 onwards.

HRV is very subjective. Mine is low for my age and has not improved. This is probably due to chronic stress from childhood on. Exercise has improved it a little but the function of HRV is basically to monitor your condition, not necessarily to improve the HRV reading.

In terms of improving your health, exercise is highly likely to be beneficial unless you already exercise enough. I would seek advice from the IVF clinic in terms of what exercise regime would give you the most bang for your buck in terms of the treatment. Being a healthy weight and having decent cardiovascular fitness would be my immediate assumptions, but my exercise knowledge is tailored towards my own requirements as a woman in her mid 50s.

I believe that HRV is also inversely correlated with resting heat rate, which is related to fitness. If you improve your fitness, they may both move.

Mine's highest if I sleep deeply, which happens if I go to bed on time
