Has anyone had anything similar to this?
It has been there a couple of months at least but was smaller at first.
Cant get a doctors appt at the moment for them to have a look 🤷‍♀️

Btw, it’s smooth to touch doesn’t feel raised or dry

I have these and am flagged for pre diabetes. Would that be something relevant for you ?

It hasn’t been suggested before no. Do you know what these are? It’s only that part of my body I have it 🤷‍♀️

The diabetes market is something called nigricans Acanthosis. They tend to be more of a Brown colour and look like they would almost rub off like they are on top of the skin

I have brown marks similar to yours, they appeared during pregnancy. They look like they are ‘in ‘ the skin not on top of it- does that make sense? I’m at football now and it’s freezing but when I get back I will post a picture. I believe mine are hemosoderin staining, iron related. They are around the veins on the insides of my one arm and no where else. Thankfully they have never worsened in colour or size but they do go darker when my skin is tanned.

they were so obvious that when I was in hospital after my children the midwife’s repeatedly asked me if I was bruised and if I needed support, they do look like someone has grabbed my arm really hard.

UnfinishedBusiness · 24/01/2023 19:13

It looks more like a fungal skin thing to me such as ringworm. I get something that looks like this very occasionally, smallish red to brown patch. Doesn’t itch, or feel dry. A week or two of canestan cream gets rid of it for ages. Usually crops up if I’m run down. It was the pharmacist who took a look and suggested canestan, maybe you could ask your local pharmacist what they think.

Ilovepugs2017 · 24/01/2023 19:17

Ok yes, the pharmacist may be a good idea. I’ll ring up tomorrow and see whether they’d be able to have a look for me. I always thought ringworm was kinda circular? It’s weird because it was very small and it’s probably tripled in size to what it was originally 🤷‍♀️

Ok thank you, I’ve tried to look online on Google to see if there’s anything it looks like but it’s hard when I don’t really know what to type in other than red discolouration patch 🫣

It doesn’t feel dry at all, not raised so if I brush my finger along it there’s no change in the texture of the skin and it doesn’t itch at all

Google inverse psoriasis.

It's different to normal psoriasis and occurs in areas like your underarms.

I have it badly and this is what it looks like when it starts.

It might not be this but it's worth getting checked out just in case.

Just had a look at the inverse psoriasis and I think mine is nothing like that and I don’t get itching with it ..

Fordian · 25/01/2023 19:18

How old are you, if you don't mind be asking?

I'm a mass of brownish skin patches; they started in my 40s. The mark in your photo, I have dozens of similar!

My ole mother would have called them 'liver spots'. 😂

Bleedyholl · 25/01/2023 19:27

Looks like a liver spot!

Bigpinkslippers · 25/01/2023 19:38

I had something very similar on my neck, it was a fungal infection, diagnosed by doc but he did say I should have gone to the pharmacist. Over the counter cream, might have been canestan, and it went in a couple of days

I’m 35,

ive never heard of liver spots before but I’ll look it up. Mines deffo more reddy or pinky coloured than brown but could be due to my skin tone?

Liver spots are basically skin patch discolourations that happen as you age. Your cells don't replicate themselves quite so accurately as they use to.

Look at any post 60 year old; face, back of hands, neck. Not blemish-free, are they?

Be aware of skin cancers; they characterise differently.

Cuppasoupmonster · 26/01/2023 23:58

Mine like this was also a fungal infection - cleared up with some anti fungal cream (daktarin I think) might want to give that a go first?

We’re you able to buy that over the counter?

No, I had to see a GP but then I didn’t know that’s what it was so I didn’t try if you see what I mean

Yes I get what you mean. I can’t get a gp appointment at the moment and the pharmacist is on holiday but when he’s back I’ll try and get an appt with him just so he can have a look. It’s hard to know how to describe it when I ring up? 🫣

I get something that looks like this in my armpits, and in my case it's eczema, so clear with a little 1% hydrocortisone.
