Should start by saying I have done an e-consult with doctor and waiting to hear back.
For about a month now I have been unbelievably tired, to the point where I napping in the day despite having a good sleep (most of the time), itchy vulva (just at the top around oubic bone area), constant dry mouth with a thirst that doesn't seem to go, not peeing loads in the day despite drinking loads but always wanting to go at night, to the point that I have wet the bed on a couple of occasions. General aches and pains, especially lower back if I've over done it.
I feel OK, just out of sorts if that makes sense.
I'm 50 and bene peri-menopausal for approx 1. 5 years, on hrt patches and last had period 10 months ago
Sorry for long post and thanks in advance xx

Diabetes?

Rubytinsleslippers · 23/01/2023 19:58

Diabetes - always a thirst that can't quench and tiredness..

But you should go to an actual doctor as anyone on a forum could tell you anything and get you very worried or dismiss something serious. If you are unwell book in with your GP.

I would be asking to be checked for -
Sjorgens syndrome and lupus
anaemia
diabetes
thyroid issues

Ideally you’d need a referral to both an endocrinologist and rheumatologist.

FiftyNotNifty · 23/01/2023 19:59

Oh I was going to say menopause then I finished reading your post.
Maybe they could review your HRT dosage? These all sound classic symptoms

No you would need blood tests and an exam with a GP.
this obsession with picking diseases and seeing a specialist to have it ruled out is insane and why we have specialist generalists ie GPs.

Thanks all, after a helpful telephone call I was told I would have to do an e-consult first. I done that about 4pm today and waiting to hear back from the doctor.

My initial thought was diabetes but I'm not losing weight, if anything going through the menopause has made me pile it on!

Nothing is impacting on my day to life, I just feel so out of sorts and Sooooo tired.

Will wait and see what doctor says, if I don't hear by lunchtime tomorrow I'll ring again x

@Rubytinsleslippers thank you. I was just after a general opin>n when I wait to hear from doctor. I done an econsult this afternoon, which has to be done for the doctor to ring and confirm whether or not an appointment is needed x

They are all symptoms of Type 2 diabetes. You can buy a blood sugar monitor cheaply from Amazon to check at home if you can't easily get a doctor appointment.

There’s no need to jump on me. 🙄

If op is prepared to go privately these are the specialists she would ideally need to see and it’s okay to ask an NHS Gp for a referral to either of those with her symptoms. Of course in an ideal world the Gp would carry out all the relevant blood tests. In reality they often don’t (I went misdiagnosed for 2 years with panic disorder when I should have been diagnosed with Addisons disease - which is fatal if left untreated indefinitely- and referred to endocrinology- only my GP didn’t recognise the symptoms and a cortisol blood test isn’t routinely done, I had to practically fight and beg to be referred to endocrinology where they did the relevant blood test and diagnosed me 2 appointments later).
