I'm due to have keyhole surgery in the next couple of weeks. I've been told my hospital stay may be up to 7 days and recovery 6 weeks with no driving etc. Has anyone got any experience of realistic recovery times?
Good (or not so good) experiences please I need as much info as possible.
I'm a reasonably fit 51r old with no health or medical issues.
Thank you

It depends why you're having it done and the risk of complications, sounds quite straight forward especially if it's keyhole the recovery will be much quicker

I’ve had a few bowel resections and recovery time has been a lot less than that , I was able to start work after ten days but from home. The driving thing is dependant on how you heal but once you are happy with the seatbelt and not sore you should be fine A keyhole is much easier !

Thank you both for your replies. I have a tumour in the colon.
I'm reassured by your recovery times!

Do you know if you'll be having any chemotherapy? My tumour (GIST) was in my duodenum and I had to have a full whipples procedure to remove it, resection wasn't possible.

Not sure about chemo. I think once they remove the tumour and surrounding nodes they will know more

The tumour is in the sigmoid colon
