Dental Insurance: Decare? DenPlan? Bupa? I'm so confused... 🤔

I have bad teeth, and tend to need a fair bit of dental work. It's expensive. Very expensive. I don't have anything specific right now (apart from regular cleaning), but over the years, dental issues, and associated large bills keep cropping up. It's time to get insurance, or a payment plan (which is what DenPlan is, I think, maybe, their website is very confusing). So what's best value? Bupa dental insurance? Decare dental insurance? DenPlan payment plan thing that's not exactly dental insurance, and whose website is super confusing, but who my dentist recommends? Thoughts?

Denplan is insurance. You pay a monthly fee and get checkups, hygienist and most treatment included. You could always set aside the money each month fir a fund for when you need treatment.

We are with Denplan and pay about £20 per month, this covers 2 check ups with dentist, 2 hygienist appointments and 10% off any bills for treatment. The dentist saw us beforehand and told Denplan what level of cover we would be on. I’m not sure if any of the other insurers like Bupa would cover any existing work that needs doing.

Thanks. I do not have any existing work that needs doing. But based on the amount of work that needed doing the past few years, more things may crop up, which is why insurance sounds sensible. Sounds like people think Denplan is the way to go, and better than Bupa?

Thanks. My dentist told me it's more of a spread the payment plan that insurance. So basically the fee you pay (based on your category) covers the cost of the number of checkups, hygienist appointments, etc you need. Whereas, my understanding is that Bupa is more traditional insurance?

Are there any other providers?
