A peak flow meter that is easy to clean

Is there a PF meter that comes apart for cleaning, or that has replaceable parts?

I have an NHS-issued mini-wright peak flow meter. I let it go too long between washes and I think it is now mouldy. There are spots that I cannot remove on the papery thing where you blow in.

We have one with a plastic mouth piece? Might that be better?

Ask your GP for a new one and it will come with a plastic mouthpiece.

However, what is this washing you refer to? Blush I think mine has never seen water.

It's not the mouthpiece that's the problem, but what I saw when I removed the mouthpiece. I think those black dots are mould, I cannot wash them off, and now I've seen them I cannot unsee them.

It's £10 on Amazon, so I think I'll just buy another for now. But longer term I'd rather buy something that can be maintained, rather than replace a plastic thing every year.

The one my GP sent me doesn't have a filter like that. You just need a different model with no filter.

This is the model my GP provides.

I have that model - I've never washed the actual meter though, just the mouthpiece and there isn't any visible mould or dirt on it.

I was ill recently and couldn't stop coughing when I used it, so that might be why it got so skanky.
