IBS? Stomach issues

I've been having stomach issues on and off for about 10 days, cramping, needing to go to the toilet quickly on occasion, soft bowel movements etc. I put it down to another bug (DS2 seems to have an upset tummy since being at nursery a lot) but I am wondering if it could be IBS. I'm trying to switch off the health anxiety part of my brain that tells me it's something life threatening. I have SAD and GAD so January is often a bit of a rough month for me mentally and I'm wondering if the stress and anxiety has triggered IBS. How long do I let it run before going to the GP? Ive gone to the doctors so much more in the last couple of years with other things only to be told it's a virus etc. so don't want to waste their time or mine!

Currently under going tests for Coeliac and IBD myself and now been referred to a specialist. Mine has been going on well over a year and a few extreme symptoms for the 3 months or so.
If it's really troubling you then see your GP, best to be checked over than suffer longer than you need to.
Stress and anxiety can be a trigger for anything gastro related, so could well be. You could always try some buscopan to see if that relieves the cramping etc for now? X

Keep a good diary for two weeks and see if you can pin point what is triggering your bowel movements. This is what they will tell you to do anyway so if you can't work it out at least you can show up to your first appointment with a diary and it'll cut out another two weeks of waiting. Could be an intolerable to certain foods.

I did a hair strand test kit I bought online, not expensive. You pull out a few hairs and send them off and they'll get back to you with foods drinks and anything else you may have intolerances to. It's not official diagnosis but it's quicker than nhs waiting times. You can then try cutting out anything the test shows up with and see if that helps. Just google it. Good luck!

Mine came back with a lot of cheeses I should avoid.
