Itchy bits driving me insane

The top bit. The mon pubis. Not the actual
labia etc

I can't live like this anymore. Feels so horrific, it's so itchy all the time, like I'm crawling alive with ants down there!

GP said it must be fungal but canesten hasn't worked

Any advice for some soothing relief? I'm desperate

Psoriasis?

RandomMess · 09/01/2023 22:17

Lichen Sclerosis?

You need a referral to dermatology for diagnosis.

newmannewday · 09/01/2023 22:17

Don't think so. There's nothing there Sad as in no flaking etc

newmannewday · 09/01/2023 22:18

@RandomMess GP said that has to be on the actual labia/lips. Not the mon pubis (think that's what it's called, the bit between your pelvis and actual vagina

See you sure it's not beasties? Crabs haven't died out have they and they're pretty easy to catch sharing towels and whatnot apparently.

RandomMess · 09/01/2023 22:19

Bath with oats in, Dermol lotion.

It could just be very irritated now Sad

hedgehoglurker · 09/01/2023 22:19

Eurax cream? A different antifungal cream like daktarin (miconazole)? Antifungal shampoo like nizoral - applied and left to work for a few minutes before rinsing? Cold compresses? Unperfumed lotion in case dry? Hydrocortisone cream? Anthisan antihistimine cream? Antihistamine pill?

newmannewday · 09/01/2023 22:20

@gamerchick I honestly considered it! But I don't have any pubes, all lasered off

OP posts:
newmannewday · 09/01/2023 22:21

I would use Nizoral (anti fungal shampoo) but nothing to shampoo, just skin. So not sure it would work

Sounds like crabs to me.

Sadik · 09/01/2023 22:21

How old are you? I spent several years with no diagnosis & relying on steroid cream to control itching. Finally realised it was peri menopause linked, ovestin cream sorted it in a week. The itching did always vary over my cycle though (but to be fair to previous drs I've had eczema & other skin conditions all my life & they've often fluctuated with my cycle)

gemloving · 09/01/2023 22:22

Get some kefir as you could have a ph imbalance and this will bring good bacteria.

& go back to your GP of the cream hasn't brought relief.

BuckarooBanzai · 09/01/2023 22:23

Vagisil might help ease the itching but won't sort out the problem.

I don't have anything for them to cling onto!

Use dermal lotion to bathe with. Get some hydrocortisone cream and take an antihistamine to break the itching cycle

newmannewday · 09/01/2023 22:25

@Sadik I'm 25 so unlikely to be that but not impossible I suppose

I am trying to get into GP surgery again as I just can't live like this. It's horrific. Constantly so bloody itchy all day and night

It sounds so silly, and I know people will be 'Hmm', but it feels like it's impacted my qualify of life

OP posts:
Sadik · 09/01/2023 22:26

Unlikely to be peri then! Believe me I sympathize though, until mine was sorted I was waking up multiple times in the night with the itching, just so horrible.

MumUndone · 09/01/2023 22:27

You had all your pubes lasered off!??

I'm glad you got it sorted! It truly is the work of the devil. I'm miserable with it

Amazing! Tell us more about this laser treatment lol!

postcardpuffin · 09/01/2023 22:32

I had something that sounds like this in my public hair area in my twenties, and it was a skin intolerance caused by the perfumes in bathing products. Drove me mad with the itching and crawling sensations, but it stopped completely after 5-7 days or so of using only unfragranced products (eg Simple, unfragranced plain soap, Surcare only on laundry). Doesn’t matter if it says it’s hypoallergenic - it’s the fragrance that’s the issue. Even now in my forties it comes back if I use fragranced products for more than a couple of days.

I did have to go completely fragrance free though, including unscented laundry liquid on underwear and towels. And making sure not to let shampoo run down over the genitals in the shower without rinsing it off carefully.

There’s a similar skin condition of the anus called “pruritus ani” which also often resolves after using unfragranced toiletries and laundry liquid.

newmannewday · 09/01/2023 22:32

@twinkletwinkle89 it takes most people about a year of treatment (once a month), before it's complete. Once done you are hairless for life... some people may need a top up of laser but I haven't needed it, still as smooth as silk down there. I spent ages shaving all the time and I am so glad I got it done

It didn't hurt. A bit like someone poking you with a tiny, warm finger with each zap

I was however warned by the laser clinic not to get absolutely everything off my bits, as they suggested it will sag a bit with time and I might want a strip at least. I didn't listen though Grin

Has your gp taken a swab? Or referred you anywhere? If you've only been one and the treatment didn't work you have to keep going back!

I had a bad itch, on the ridge of my Labia. Was horrendous.
No flaking skin, no white patches.
Used private health to see a gynaecologist, was prescribed a mild steroid cream and an aqueous cream to protect the area.
The itch went away and thank god has never come back!

I also had an infection which was prob bought in by the constant scratching!

whenever I’ve shaved there I’ve found it really itchy. Could it be anything to do with the layering or is it much more recent.
