Husband in constant pain

DH (60) has developed plantar fascilitis in one foot and his other foot is starting with the condition as well.
Has anyone got experience of this....the expected time-line to recover is 12-18months!

There are so many suggestions for exercise on-line, that he tends to stick with an exercise for a day or two and then read about another 'miracle' cure!
I'd be grateful for any suggestions that have worked or at least made a difference.

He only works a few hours a week, as he's now semi-retired, but even walking around the house is now very painful for him.
Any advise gratefully received!

Birkenstocks shoes or similar with ARCH SUPPORT. Or buy orthotics (shaped thing with arch support that go into your shoes.

This kind of thing or similar:

And don't walk barefoot, even around the house

A physio recommended taping your foot with micro pore tape. Rolling chilled tins of coke/ etc under the foot helps

Get some arch supports and wear them all the time. Wear supportive shoes instead of slippers in the house with the arch supports in.

Roll the foot on a hard foam roller! Do it multiple times through the day.

PF is usually caused by something and the quickest way to cure it is to find the cause.

For example my DH got it from (very!)tight calves, and stretching his calves, changing his driving position have both helped.

I had it because I have an issue with the ball of my foot so I was walking funny to avoid pain there and that in turn caused PF. Getting shoes that avoid the first problem fixed the second.

It is slow and steady but my DH fixed his in about 3 months by finding the cause and fixing that

Tight calves for me too - I had my legs professionally massaged, and then applied the same techniques at home every morning. It was very painful massaging my calves, but it definitely did the job. I'd say consistency is the key.
