Supplements containing Tricaprin?

Hi, I read an article published in the independent yesterday (alongside some peer reviewed journals) that Tricaprin has been found to break down fatty deposits in some instances in (a sample size of) patients with heart disease.

I have a hereditary cholesterol condition and am on statins.

I was going to phone my consultant (U.K) and enquire to their suitability alongside Artorvastatin, but despite the article saying they’re a widely available supplement, I can’t find them in the U.K.

does anybody know of any (U.K available) supplements containing Tricaprin or whether they have a different pharmaceutical name? I don’t want to waste my consultants name if they don’t exist here yet.

thanks Dawn.

It’s in coconut oil and mct oil, both easily available.

Bark and Leaf Essential Oil of Umbellularia californica is what is marketed mostly in the States - Treat the report with a level of caution though as although interesting is not that new just progressive research.
The Tricaprin triglyceride listed below is not for human consumption and can be quite dangerous in its concentrated format.

The essential oil has been about for a bit and was known as the headache tree - A natural alternative to Aspirin. The research showing damage improvements is very interesting and worth following.

Same situation with the statins. I'm curious I will check out with my physcian. There are quite a few sources online not sure of quality etc.

Thank you everybody 😊 I think I’ll hold off until I next speak to my consultant, as I don’t what to be buying medical grade concentrated amounts for silly amounts of money.
I was hoping for an over the counter daily supplement type thing (U.K consumer standard endorsed) seems like this isn’t readily available at the moment.
And thanks for word of caution re the research. I was particularly interested, because the implication of the article I read was that Tricaprin reduces existing plaque damage (statins only stabilise it).
Due to my hereditary condition, I have had high cholesterol since birth - so 40 years with no statins and high cholesterol, means in likelihood I have some damage. Thanks all.

Amazon offers a brand called "NOW" who offers supplements like; "tri-3d Omega" it has trygleceride based Omegas. But i cant find a supplement with the actual word: tricaprin.

Hi iI’m curious about what your consultant said, can you give me an update please?

Sleepeazie · 15/10/2024 11:56

Hi @MyGoldBiscuit he hadn’t heard a lot about it and kept referring to other alternative supplements, which prevent / rather than reverse.

he suggested that it was something that existed for other countries markets’ - in the main.

He certainly didn’t know any more than I’d heard.
so, sadly, a no go really.
