Private Dental Care - costs

I finally went to a new private dentist last week to register as a new patient. Two house moves, a relocation and lockdown means I haven't been for 4/5 years.

My treatment plan is two fillings at £175 each, potential root canal treatment at £525 then twice a year hygienist appointment at £60 per appointment.

Does this sound average?

I can't remember the costs and I was registered at an NHS practice previously.

Yes, sounds about right. I saw my private dentist yesterday - she has said I need to have 2 fillings replaced at £200 each, and a hygienist visit at £65. Check up plus 2 X rays was £60.

Sounds similar to what my dentist charges.

We have a denplan policy and I pay £23 per month (my teeth require a fair bit of dentist attention, dh pays less per month as he doesn't need to go as often). All my appointments, including hygienist are covered. Recently had a root canal which was covered too. It has been the best value insurance I've ever had.

Yes, within a normal range.

Thank you - my initial new patient appointment was £65 which included x-rays too.

Does your dentist allow you pay in instalments?

The filings and the hygienist costs sound about right - I'm £18/mth for four hygiene appointments a year.

Root canal costs seem high but that may be the costs of x-rays etc. My root canal failed and I needed an extraction so bear that in mind.

Private dentist in Northern England here.
We charge:
£115 new patient including x rays
£59 check up including x rays
£59 30 minutes hygiene
Filling £90-160
Crown £600
Molar root treatment £500
Extraction £100

Re instalments- we allow patients to pay by monthly standing order, over 10 months. Minimum £100 per month so only if their treatment plan is over £1000.
Credit card companies allow instalments though.
