Might not be the correct topic wasn't sure but thought I would start here

Can someone direct me to the law/protocol on over 13s and GP appointments

It is a pain when I haven't been able to make an on the day one as they are at school but now have been told I can't change one without them on the phone call either. I just want to move the date for a routine one.

Is it possible for them to give their consent to a parent for appointments, I don't need access to their medical records, just to make appointments.

I have an autistic son and although able was not ordering own prescriptions etc (aged 15) even with prompts so I just wrote a letter giving consent he signed it and not had a problem since. Although is over 18 now we've left it in place as he said its useful when they ring and he's not around but dc can remove it at anytime by writing in.

Thanks @Edwardwilliamnancy

When I called back with DS after school, after a 30 minute hold they changed it without asking to speak with him so that was a waste of everybody's time. I am going to get a form for him to give permission to me as just more practical that way

Until he is 16, you are responsible for his medical care - once he reaches 16 that’s when he would need to sign a form giving you permission to speak on his behalf
