Very low HRV

I found this measurement (not a premium feature) by accident and notice my reading is around 30ms! Dangerously low.

Resting heart rate is fine, around 61. Oxygen 96%. BMI 21. I feel fine! Vegetarian. Bloods fine. But is my heart health at a massive risk?

I’m active without overdoing it. Small children so literally not a minute to myself (DH great, we’re both busy with them as no family help).

I sleep well.

So far as I understand, more actual cardio and less stress will increase your hrv.
Also home measurement isn’t properly calibrated and should be taken with a pinch of salt. It’s more useful as a broad brush guide, where you can monitor medium and long term trends

These readings are not diagnostic, just sporadic data. Surely low variation is good,

HairyKitty · 02/01/2023 13:02

Low variation isn’t good (contrary to what we would think) it indicates that our body is less able to readily adapt to changing situations and activities.

Livingmagicallyagain · 02/01/2023 13:07

Thank you all. I’m not particularly stressed and wonder if this is an underlying issue? But all other stats are good.

I’m not particularly health anxious but this reading is so low so looking for others’ experiences.

I’m not aware that it’s dangerous, but people who do regular yoga and cardio would have a higher reading.
Also it varies and when under physical or emotional stress will drop, if that could explain your current reading? Eg being ill, late nights etc

I'm early 60's fairly fit and well - regular Pilates and swimming and a full time job. Mine can vary from 11 to 50 with an average of 27. Resting HR and BMI like yours.

I did a bit of research around how it is a proxy measurement of the autonomic nervous system and its ability to withstand stress. I don't think I'm particularly stressed.

Decided not to worry about it Smile

I'm very fit, do intense training sessions, don't drink, don't smoke, eat healthily. RHR between 50 and 56 and my hrv stands between 30 and 40. In my 50s.

I'm not particularly stressed but I am guessing it's just who I am. I'm quite hyper naturally so am never going to be chilled or become a meditation instructor. I'm not worried about it though.
