Trapped nerve in neck/shoulder

Can I ask if any of you have had a trapped nerve in your neck/shoulder? If so, please tell me about your experiences. How was it treated? How long did it take to get better?

Three weeks ago I started experiencing pins and needles/shooting pains in my hands and feet, before waking up the next day with a wry neck which I couldn't turn to the side. When the pain moved down my arm to my wrist, I got an appt with a nurse practitioner who thought an inflamed muscle was pressing on a nerve and prescribed Naproxen. After about 9 days the pain disappeared, along with the tingling so I stopped taking the Naproxen, but I am now having daily headaches (sometimes twice a day!) and bouts of dizziness. This whole thing has been going on about 3 weeks now.

I'm really starting to worry that it could be something more serious. I am a self-confessed hypochondriac with regular health anxiety crises though, so wondered if anyone has had something similar and could put my mind at rest? 😪

Sorry you are suffering.
I've had this since October 2021!
Was told nothing could be done except pain killers ( naproxen and gabapentin).

I've just requested an MRI on my spine as my left eye lid has now gone droopy ( had mri on brain, chest and neck which were clear).

Have you thought about acupuncture/ an osteopath to release the nerves ?

Headaches and dizziness should be investigated i think.

Thank you for responding. Yes, I've thought about booking in with an Osteopath. I have an appointment this week for physio so will see how that goes.

Hope your MRI goes well and you get sorted quickly.

The amazing nhs go told me every 2 weeks for 4 months to take pain killers (co codamol was prescribed) and rest. Constant pain from spine to index finger, couldn’t work at all, spent all day in excruitiating pain, or with my arm stretched in front of my throat to stretch the back ligaments, that i had panic attacks because i was restricting my own breathing to try and help the pain.

I went to a physiotherapist after a phone call with private doctor, 1 session and i was improving, 8 sessions in total fixed me and taught me how to prevent it in future. Had a relapse about 5 years ago, 3 sessions….

I had it with pain in my neck down my arm and pins and needles in my fingers. GP prescribed painkillers and said it would go away. After two weeks of muddling through I booked in with a private physio. One appointment was all it took and I do regular exercises to stop it happening again.

Im currently suffering from something similar! I've booked in to see a physio massage therapist this week to see if things can be improved I've seen a physio who's just given me exercises.

I ended up in bed with a warm water bottle on my shoulder as in so much pain and seems to spread right from top to toe with a headache on my right hand side.

I'm also wondering if I spend far too much on my phone holding it with my right hand which is causing some of the pain??
