Am I wrong?

Hi, my husband of 22 years has always had dandruff problem, that isn't my issue my question is am I being unreasonable if I expect him to clean our bed every morning when he sheds huge flakes? Should I have to tell him every day? Should I just do it? And on an evening whilst watching tv his hand is constantly on his head scratching away leaving a huge mess on the sofa, cushion covers and floor. I clean that up about twice a day.

No you're not wrong. That would drive me nuts and give me the ick. He needs to treat it as well. T gel is good 👍

He does try different things and nothing works, but I still think he should be responsible for cleaning up after himself, especially a space we share!

What's he tried so far?

What's he tried so far?

He's tried medicated stuff, really expensive stuff from online plus stuff he's researched and bought things on recommendations and also the cheap stuff so basically all of the things available in the uk.

Scalp psoriasis?

Sounds like it but doesn't get better

Oh poor you.

Have you asked him to clear up after himself?

caramac04 · 01/01/2023 22:14

Of course he should. Leaving his dead skin flakes for others to endure is gross

I have to tell him regularly to clean up he never does on his own accord

Has he seen a GP?

Never the gp

He needs to see his GP for treatment.

Never the gp

Why on earth not? This isn't normal. Nor is putting up with it for 22 years.

He's not one to be told, he won't listen to my suggestion.

Head and shoulders then his normal shampoo. I had a weird head skin itchy flaky scalp and did this and it sorted almost instantly. Worth a try. If not the gp he must be really itch?!

Thanks I'll tell him to try using the two shampoos, yes he does scratch all the time

If he's leaving flakes / scales in the bed it sounds like psoriasis, not dandruff and he need to get his arsed to a doctor.

vipersnest1 · 01/01/2023 22:33

You can buy nizoral shampoo over the counter. It may well help.

purpledalmation · 01/01/2023 22:33

Sounds more like excema. He needs to get to a GP. Buy him a small hand held hoover and ask him to clean his mess up.

I wouldn't be sharing a bed with him nor a sofa until he went to his GP. I can't get over you putting up with this for 22 years.

Ansumpasty · 01/01/2023 22:37

Yuck, no you aren’t wrong. Nobody wants to sleep in a bed with big flakes in it- that would gross me out massively.
Definitely GP, why suffer?

He's tried this, works for a week and then back to normal

fedup269 · 01/01/2023 23:19

My main concern is not the issue with the dandruff/psoriasis but the fact that I have to point out to him to clean it up, I feel bad because he does have a medical issue of some sort but surely he shouldn't be that selfish and expect me to sleep in it!

I know you're not that bothered by the actual dandruff but my partner uses phyto apaisant shampoo (in a blue bottle, available on Amazon) and it sorts it right out.

Failing that, yes - he should be clearing up his own head flakes.

Thank you I will suggest this one to him x
