DD fallen off the bed - can anyone help?

DD was being looked after this morning by dh, and fell off the bed backwards. She cried and cried, but has seemed fine all day.

I have been worried all day but because she has eaten normally etc and has been laughing and playing I didn't see the point in taking her to a & e.

Now she's gone to bed and I am crippled with worry.

Can anyone help me?

I'm pretty sure she must be fine if she was eating laughing and playing!

How old?

Has she been sick or very sleepy?

She is probably fine, DS fell off the bed twice yesterday (DP was supposed to be watching ). They are much tougher than they look

Pinkjenny · 03/02/2008 20:31

She hasn't been sick, but did sleep straight afterwards, but then awake all afternoon. She's almost 9 months.

I think all of my three did this at some point, even though I was the most cautious parent of babies. Honestly, don't worry - it goes without saying that you don't want it to happen regularly, but they usually 'bounce'. They are all absolutely fine btw and school age now.

Well it sounds like she is fine, she probably slept afterwards because of all the crying but if you are very worried you could call NHS direct and see what they say.

Pinkjenny · 03/02/2008 20:35

I spoke to NHS direct and they told me to take her to A & E because she had fallen from a height greater than her height. I didn't go (maybe it was irresponsible) because it just didn't seem necessary. I spoke to my aunty who is a paediatric nurse and she went through all the questions they would ask me at hospital and concluded that she sounded fine.

I'm panicing now. I should have just gone. I'm such a rubbish mum. She deserves better.

Pinkjenny, NHS direct have to cover their backs, same with any NHS service, yu have spoken to a paediatric nurse, you ARE NOT a rubbish mum

sherby · 03/02/2008 20:38

Pinkjenny you are not a rubbish mum, my DS fell off the bed TWICE in ONE DAY. It happens all the time and you are probably more bothered about it than she is.

The fact that you are so upset shows that you are a fab mum. It really doesn't sound like she needs to go to a&e

callmeovercautious · 03/02/2008 20:40

I would say that by now you would know if there was a problem, you have also had good advice from you Auntie so listen to her.

For peace of mind I would keep the monitor close by and if you can hear her every now and then stop panicing

Hope she is not too bruised.

She keeps waking up and won't settle. To be honest, she's often like this but I am just imagining so much.
