Mucus Free in 2023!

TheYearOfSmallThings · 27/12/2022 22:27

My new years' resolution is to not suffer another year like the last in which I have been constantly plagued with snot. TMI but I seem to produce 5 times more snot than anyone else, it settles in my sinuses, irritates my lungs, and has now started coming out my eyes.

I can't live like this so I am now willing to give up food groups, live on cayenne pepper water, find God, flush water in and out any part of me, try any any alternative therapies etc. Has anyone had this problem and successfully become mucus free?

I just want to breathe through my nose.

GP is the way to go OP.
are you using nasal sprays

TheYearOfSmallThings · 28/12/2022 00:23

I can just see my GP's face if I tell him I have too much snot!

Actually I can't because it hasn't been possible to see a GP at my surgery since 2019. But in fairness I suspect this is something I should try to address myself first - I have used Flixonase/or whatever it is called now, with partial short term success, but they say not to use it long term. I use saline spray, although I'm not sure if it does anything. I also take an antihistamine (cetirizine) for much of the year, between hayfever and allergies.

I probably need to give up the cheese and yoghurt, at least for a while.

Going vegan seriously lowered my mucous level. Modest amounts of thin clear mucous only now, even if sick. I used to cough/blow up horrid amounts of the stuff, in a rainbow of colours.

Vegan Sad... I was hoping to hang onto butter! And milk in tea. Maybe I'll try cutting down a lot.

You poor thing! That sounds awful, I’d second the cutting down on dairy. I used to get awful sinus pressure from drinking cow’s milk, things have improved tenfold switching to oat milk. Best of luck xx

First thing in the morning, swallow a freshly crushed clove of fresh, raw garlic, followed by a large glass of water.

Feel your sinuses drying up

It usually takes about ten days of daily observance for this to sort me out.

Avoiding dairy in the early days tends to help, too. Once it's all cleared, I can reintroduce butter and hard cheese ok again.

Hope it works for you.

I lose my smell and taste most days due to allergies. Doctor last week has told me
To change my antihistamine from cert to another type. He has also precluded a steroid spray. The Doctor can help.

I agree re:dairy foods. I tend to do a 2 week purge of all dairy foods; then bring back hard cheese and natural yoghurt.

I think your GP would switch you to Avamys.

See your GP. I suspect nasal steroids would help. Possibly also an inhaler if you are also coughing it up.
