I cut my leg on umm Thursday and I am finding it very hard to bend that leg - I can but its incredibly painful, this makes putting socks on etc very very difficult.

It was a deepish cut I guess? Maybe 1-2cm down but just into fat and I put steri strips on myself and its closed up quite a lot now.

My other leg has similar cuts on but they are not so painful and I can bare to bend my leg with them. Hmm.

Bad? Normal?

TBH I think some people will spot it wherever you do it - and you will need to be in a swimsuit in October I assume?

The scars on your belly will fade more over the next few years.

If you want to keep the scarring to a minimum then keep the sides of the cuts together with paper stitches or whatever you are using - as close together as possible. Fine lines fade much better than big gaping-type scars which develop their own ladder-like scarring inside the gape, as you probaby already know.

Good luck with your self-help person - the right person can REALLY help with this sort of thing. It is not an easy or quick process but you have taken the first steps and that is the main thing. Just keep seeking that recovery and don't give it up when the going gets tough.

Oh yes people will see on holiday (honeymoon actually!) but we have quite a private veranda thing on a water villa so should be able to avoid too many stares, i get lots of comments about arms on holidays anyway, just don't want fresh cuts on show on hols.

I am lucky to have fabulous, specialised help and I can tell the mental health nurse I see anything which helped. He helped me back in 2004 so hopefully 2008 will be no different!

Aw smurfgirl, nobody is judging you. Hope you can talk it over on Friday

If you do go to A&E its really really worth taking a friend or someone who can be an advocate for you. I know it can be pretty traumatising to go to A&E for self harm and that some staff can be quite harsh. I'd also go to one where your friends aren't if you can.

Thanks for the advice badkitten, i would not be able to take anyone but I can stand my ground quite well I like to think ;) Have been in A&E for ODs etc and always been treated nicely.
