Burnt leg, does this look infected *picture warning*

I burnt my leg on boiling water a week ago. The skin had a small blister on but was red for the week but yesterday the skin peeled off and looks like this today. I’ve had it covered with savlon on. Does it look infected?

How big is it? I would think if nothing else it needs properly dressing.

Ackity · 25/12/2022 22:19

I don’t think it looks infected personally, but I’m not a doctor.

signs of infection:

redness
heat
swelling
foul smelling discharge
increased pain

potentially you could have a fever or feel unwell too. Do any of those ding a dong?

vraimenthan · 25/12/2022 22:20

None of the above, feels exactly the same as before and it’s maybe an 2 inches for the exposed area

A burn of that size should be looked at by a health care professional. It does look very inflamed. I would get it looked at. Maybe a pharmacist tomorrow?

Ackity · 25/12/2022 22:25

If you don’t feel unwell and don’t think it’s showing signs of infection, I’d try and get to a pharmacist tomorrow for proper care advice.

RagamuffinCat · 25/12/2022 22:26

Can you make an appointment with your practice nurse on Tuesday or see if a pharmacist can advise tomorrow? It looks very sore, and I would think it is at risk of infection being an open wound.

userxx · 25/12/2022 22:27

I'd get it looked at, just t9 be on the safe side.

Bobbybobbins · 25/12/2022 22:28

I would at least try to get a pharmacist look at it tomorrow.

I was always told that any burn bigger than a 50p needs a health care professional (my mum was a severe burns expert)

vraimenthan · 25/12/2022 22:30

@ItsTrueLou i did originally go to the pharmacist when I first got it done and they recommended buying some burn cream and a large plaster. I’ve had it clean and dry all of the time and regularly changed the dressing
