So I have finaly been struck down with covid , I tested positive on 16th December and on 24th I am still feeling ill.

It started with a blocked head feeling for the first few days then the worst back pain I have ever had along with couging which made the back pain worse. I have had some very scary dizzy spells where when walking I have had to grab the walls to steady myself. Along with periods where I feel very tired.

yesterday I was feeling much better and did loads of xmas prep but today I feel wiped out again and my nose is streaming for the first time. Still testing positive.

I was wondering what other peoples journey has been and when will I start to feel human again. Also typical I am ill over Xmas and when I have 2 weeks off work.

I am wondering if I should be going to a family get togther tomorrow if I am still testing positive and then my boxing day yoga class.

feeling very depresed about it all first two weeks off all year and I am ill. And January is very very busy at work. :(

It's bloody grim being ill at this time of year

I think the experience is different for most people, all you can do is drink plenty of water, take paracetamol and rest. I vaguely think if you overdo it that might be a contributing factor to long Covid

Government guidelines don't say you have to isolate, but most people do keep themselves to themselves.

Sorry you’re feeling ill. It’s rubbish, especially at this time of the year. I had Covid a few months ago. Felt absolutely dreadful for two days - in bed feeling like I was dying - and then felt absolutely fine but took another six days to test negative. I really wouldn’t go to a family get together if you are still positive or go to your yoga class. Although there is no legal requirement to stay at home now, you wouldn’t want to make your family or fellow yoga classmates feel like you do would you?

NHS England has been advising people not to visit elderly relatives if you have a cold tbh so something to bear in mind.
You can test positive for ages. Our official advice was that if you still have a temp and test positive best not to mix with people. 9 days post symptoms without a temp you are unlikely to be infectious. Otoh an expert on the radio suggested folk wear masks when in a crowded environment to minimize spread of viruses in general 😮
