What can I put on my sore finger?

I have a skin condition that normally effects my palms, but over the last couple of weeks it’s come up on one of my fingers and it’s quite sore. I’ve got some zero Derm cream at home but could do with something to cover it with that won’t stick. Any ideas? Photos included.

Maybe this kind of thing, an impregnated gauze that won’t stick to the skin and then a sticky plaster type dressing/or bandage on top to keep it in place.

jelonet
JELONET is indicated as a primary wound contact layer in the treatment of minor burns and scalds, donor and recipient graft sites, skin loss wounds, lacerations, abrasions, leg ulcers.

Or you might be better to see if a practice nurse can take a look and prescribe some dressings suitable for it?

Can I just say, owww!

That looks SO sore and I hope you get some relief!

Thanks, will pop to the pharmacy tomorrow. Won’t get any appointments now as GP closed for Christmas,

Vaseline and a gauze. It looks so sore. I hope you're OK.

That looks so sore, really feel for you.
Sudocrem is the go to for everything in our house?

princesssparklepants · 23/12/2022 21:07

Oh bless you... I get this on my palms too! Was currently just feeling sorry for myself as I have a nasty split on bottom of my thumb. So I cannot imagine how this feels!!!

Only thing helping me at mo is Aquaris cream. But you really need a steroid prescription. Does your GP not have an out of hours?

Dedontdodatderdode · 23/12/2022 22:03

@princesssparklepants do you mean aqueous cream? The advice has changed and they now say to only use it as a wash, not apply and leave on skin, as it can make skin issues worse.

“Paediatric clinical guidelines from NICE and the National Eczema Society have reported that aqueous cream may be associated with skin reactions, such as burning, stinging, itching and redness, when used as a leave-on emollient but not when used as a wash product”

Splodgerbodgerbadger · 23/12/2022 22:05

I’m a bit wary about using steroid cream as I’ve got an infection in it. I had a swab done last week and they prescribed me some antibiotics today.

That looks really infected 😕 I'm a nurse, inadine would be useful to dry it up, I'm not sure if you can buy it though. I think you should see a nurse and get it properly dressed.

princesssparklepants · 23/12/2022 22:23

I use it as advised by a dermatologist.

Steroids when needed

Soap free wash in the shower, like aveeno

Aqueous cream to protect. Especially as it's hands.

Steroids are needed when it gets as bad as ops pictures. But granted my hands have never been That bad.

Yes the swab result showed a heavy infection, I started on doxycycline today so hopefully see some improvement soon.

Bepanthen is a really good and gentle too. Looks painful 😖

Splodgerbodgerbadger · 24/12/2022 13:09

Thanks everyone. I’ve got some non stick gauze today so will put moisturiser on then that. Will see the nurse at the GP next week if it’s no better. Vomited my antibiotics up this morning. Oh the joys.

I ended up going to see the nurse at the GP’s as still really sore along with my palms. All bandaged up now and going back on Tuesday.

What can I put on my sore finger?
