Cough - normal?

I've had a cough for a couple of weeks, maybe 3. I couldn't really exhale without coughing for a while but it's definitely improved. Cold air will still set me off but I'm not really coughing anything, except in the morning a bit of phlegm.

My nose has been full of thick mucus, usually just one sided, and a bit green, for a week as well now.

Is it normal for it to linger this long or should I be doing something?

DD got diagnosed with bronchitis and DS a throat infection earlier this month and both had antibiotics. They both get better but now have a mild version of something too. DH started last and has quite a phlegm cough now.

If no-one has a fever and everyone is energetic, eating and sleeping well, we can just carry on as we are right?

We're also about to travel to visit family and I don't know if us all coughing will put people off? Before Covid I wouldn't even have questioned it but not sure now!

My youngest DS has a constant cough for the last 3 days. Tested for covid and it's not that. When I say constant he's coughing so much - like when you get an annoying tickly throat that constantly makes you want to cough. He's fine in himself otherwise apart from a snuffly nose and just sounds like he's got a cold - no temp, rash etc. We've been out and about - people have stared because of the coughing but people need to realise there's more than just covid about and we have to get on with it. I get people are still anxious around it and worried but it's not nice to make a person feel like they've got a bloody disease when in fact it's just a viral thing! It can't be helped.
As for green mucus - I'm not too sure. You could always get a phone appt with a gp just to get some advice for peace of mind? But there is a lot about like this that's viral at the moment x

Thank you for responding and I am sorry your DS is suffering too. Saw family today and some had a cold too so at least it takes the pressure off feeling like we're the ones sharing the viruses around! The thing is, I've been coughing for 3 weeks now, I can't isolate for this long.

But as we never even had a temperature or even any tiredness, I think it's really just an annoying lingering virus.

I was supposed to see an elderly relative tomorrow and I am really nervous. I know she'd be devastated if we don't go as she's been having a really tough time and wanting to see us. Its also our only yearly chance (we live abroad). But then who knows how she might react to this virus? I just can't decide what to do.

@Allaboutthecough no of course you can't. Especially if it's viral which sounds like it might just be.
Does your elderly relative know you have a lingering cough? Has she reacted to this in a negative way?
As of early this evening I now seem to of picked up this horrid niggly cough. Completely fine in myself- just feels as though I've got a hairball in my throat. 🙃
If you're feeling completely fine in yourself, don't stress too much about it and see the loved ones and enjoy yourself x

Oh no, that sounds like the one! Such a constant annoying tickly thing. You can't help but cough but coughing doesn't really help either.

She actually almost cried when I mentioned possibly only taking one of the 2 DC to visit as one has a cough and could stay with DH, so I think she'd rather see us. I can actually hold my cough back to some extent so will aim to do that, and wear a mask for good measure I think.
