Having a diddy panic. DD had dental surgery yesterday at the Children's hospital (had decayed teeth capped). She is medically fragile with a severe disability. Now, BCH often has MRSA about.
Anyhow, she had a sore patch at the corner of her mouth where the thingy must have pulled her lips and mouth open and today its all pus-ey and ycuky. Normal sore or MRSA sore? If MRSA will it go away alone?
She's had MRSA in a wound before from that blasted hospital Just a sore on her hand where a cannula had been but they tested the pus and it was positive.
She's also coughing a great deal post GA.

You need a major wound for MRSA to infect, usually. And that is still quite rare, really, when you consider all the major operations that happen each year. Could well be an infection of another sort, though. And she is immno-weak, from what you say.

Personally, without knowing how vulnerable her immune system is, I would probably keep an eye on it and take her to an NHS walk-in centre only if it gets worse or is no better in 3 days.

ta. It really is quite disgusting. Thank goodness she can't lick it or touch it (no hand function or tongue control)
